Nice Compact Power Strip,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Monster MP OTG400 BK Outlets To Go Power Strip - 4 AC Outlets - Black (Electronics)
Let me preface my remarks by saying, I am NOT a fan of Monster and their cables. I believe their A/V cables are overpriced junk and that for the most part consumers are sold a bill of goods, thinking their overpriced cables will produce better results. This is particularly true with HDMI cables. The company is also overly litigious and go around suing anyone who has attempts to use the "monster" name in any of their products. Even unrelated products.
Having said that, this is a nice compact power strip that is well designed and met my need so I decided to go for it. The cord folds around the strip for easy storage and it's easy to use.
I'm with the other reviewers who mention the blue light. It's bright in a dark room and is totaly unecessary. It doesn't serve any purpose other than to tell you the outlet has electricity. This is the second one of these I received, the first one arrived DOA. The funny thing is, the blue light on that one worked when plugged into the wall, but none of the outlets on the strip worked. Either a short or a faulty product. The vendor accepted my return even without the packaging, which I had thrown away before I tested the product, no questions asked!!
For the people that commented that this will not work in Europe, I did personally contact Monster Customer Service and the representative assured me that this will work in the 220V environment in Europe. You need to buy a
US to Europe power adapter such as this VCT - PLUG ADAPTER - CONVERTS GROUNDED USA PLUGS TO EUROPE PLUG-GERMAN SHUCKO PLUG (VP 11W) in order for it to work and your electronics must be made for the 220V environment as well. (Look on the back of your device or the power transformer, most modern ones say 110~220V and therefore can be used on US or European electrical systems.)
I will add a follow up review when I return from Europe in a month.
I returned from Europe a couple months ago and I must say this was the single best piece of technology accessory I had with me! European (and US for that matter) hotel rooms are notoriously short on electrical outlets and this came in handy so many times! I had a cell phone, an iPod and and iPad with me and this worked for all the devices wonderfully. I also have a small set of travel speakers that worked fine. For those of us who travel with a C-Pap machine, I plugged it into this and had no problems either. I will reiterate, check the back of your device or on the transformer for voltage compatibility. All my products clearly say 110~220V and worked fine on European voltage.

James Kaufman says:
I just purchased this product, but am concerned about the voltage issue. There are many people who assert that it works fine with European 220 volt circuits, but the back of the item clearly states an electrical rating of 10 amps, 125 volts. Is this thing going to melt down or start a fire if I plug it into a European 220 volt circuit?
