Dead slow Lenovo,
This review is from: Lenovo Y580 15.6-Inch Laptop (Personal Computers)
Purchased Lenovo Y 580. It takes Lenovo almost a month to get here after 4 shipping date changes. Arrives with dead Keyboard and touchpad. On with support withing 2 hour arrival, returned to Lenovo within 24 hours. It will take them over 1 business week to credit my account after they get it back and review it. People in IT told me their Lenovos aren't working well either. Should have listened. Never again will I look at Lenovo as a quality product. Now its December 5 and I still don't have that quality laptop to start upper division classes. I will never consider Lenovo again.

It sounds like you didn't buy from Amazon?

i order a lot from amazon. But the faster processor, bigger driver and windows 8 included convinced me to order direct. No matter, as I said before, all my friends that work in IT for different companies told me it was a mistake, that all of them are having trouble now with their Lenovos. they told me it was going to come in dead, or i was going to start having problems with it. I didn't listen, but they where right. So I returned it and went to a different brand. I have build computers for friends and have owned a lot of laptops from Dell and HP. Never had this kind of problems with them.

I am getting the impression that many brands are having problems. It think they are either using the same supplier for whatever part or just making them too thin. Have you heard what brands are doing better than most? Thanks!

Most ASUS, Samsung, Dell, Lenovo models are rock solid, you just may have to pay a premium to get the good stuff.

For gaming notebooks, I'd probably recommend Asus's G-series, but the Y580 is quite literally half the price for an equally fast gaming system. You seem to be the only person I know who have had a problem with their Y580 though.. which seems suspicious to me. I'm not even sure what HP notebook is comparable to this one, especially at this price, so I'm even more confused. HP is junk...
That said, I own several Lenovo notebooks, all thinkpads, and they are the best notebooks I have ever owned. I had a keyboard die on my X230 Thinkpad one time, and sent it in under warranty -- I had it back in under a week. Very professional, no hassle, little bloatware, and they have a very nice system update tool to make sure everything is running the way it is meant to run.
