I love the stories behind the food. I love the fact that Maria Speck doesn't avoid mention of lovely cream and prosciutto (99% of the year I avoid any red meat). The recipes have turned me on to grains I'd been afraid to approach. Forbidden rice is chewy and marvelous (she mentions it but doesn't have a recipe for it but I searched on-line) and whole oats are wonderful (and I'm not a great oatmeal fan) with walnuts and Gorgonzola. She demonstrates a love of good food. YES!
