This review is from: Jazz Lead Guitar Solos: The Ultimate Guide to Playing Great Leads, Book & CD (Paperback)
What we have here is eight tunes, written out in standard notation and tab, each followed by a complete analysis- the scales used (nicely diagrammed) and a discussion of why each is appropriate. Each tune illustrates a specific style- there's a minor blues, a major blues, a Django-esque tune, a modal tune, and a number of familiar sounding tunes with progressions and melodies that echo tunes like Green Dolphin Street, Blue Bossa, and other standards. Anyone who's comfortable with rhythm guitar, knows his or her basic movable chord forms and can play basic blues or rock has all the skills they need to work on this book. This is a very useful supplement for the rocker interested in learning the jazz idiom.
