This was a cute, light fantasy romance. There was some angst, but mostly because of obstacles that came from outside the relationship. There was a power imbalance, given that Cassius was Merrick's valet and really needed to keep his job in order to provide for his family, but that situation is part of the premise, it's in the description, so if you're not ok with that, this probably isn't the book for you. There were a few sex scenes, but not in a way that overpowered the story. The characters were sweet and kind. The world was one not entirely accepting of same-sex couples, but the main characters had supportive people.
The audiobook narration by Joel Leslie was good. His narration could get a little exaggerated at times, but I enjoyed the performance and emotion he put into it.
Overall, this was a book that won't be super memorable to me, but one that I enjoyed while listening.
