This review is from: Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker System (Personal Computers)
These speakers are a backup to the speakers that come with my laptop. I never expected too much from these to begin with , other than a friend of mine had some Base 201's back in 1988 that I have never forgotten. They sounded amazing , so assumed for the most part that anything that Bose made would fill the order of my musical needs.
I have been using the EQ setting with my soundcard to tweak these for different types of music I listen to. For the most part I will say these are much better than listening to the little cheesey speakers that come with my laptop DV6. Happy there is a type of governor control on the Volume , some people turn it to the Maximum and blow the speakers. So this is like an Anti-dummy feature which I appreciate.
Setup was pretty straightforward , always good to take a bit longer and relax a tad when reading the instructions which came with a One through Four with pictures even! Keeping the Volume knob to the Left of Twelve O clock give the best performance.
These do crank pretty good for their size , these are powerful enough that if you have room mates they will be asking you to turn it down a bit.
These DO turn off also , I maxed the gain on the media player and the speakers/Headphones to 100% and turn these on when I startup my laptop. I am sure I expected more from these than they are actually capable of delivering but hey I was hopeful.
As it stands I am ok with these speakers I am a name brand Loyalist so expected much more from the onset.
