A zenith in the history of personal computers,
This review is from: Apple MacBook Air MC969LL/A 11.6-Inch Laptop (OLD VERSION) (Personal Computers)
Full disclosure: My machine includes the i7 upgrade from Apple.
The weight and portability of this machine are only the beginning of its many laudable features. The excellent drivetrain (if you will) that includes an i5/i7, along with 4GB of 1333MHz RAM and fast solid-state nonvolatile storage, truly remove any categorization of the Air as a "novelty" or "boutique" computer. This machine is truly an everyday workhorse that just also happens to be able to go anywhere you want it to go, without weighing you down.
First of all, I should say that if you're worried about the 11" screen being too small, I do not think you will have any regrets after purchasing this model instead of the 13" model. This model, aside from having a respectable native display resolution, also absolutely shines in OS X 10.6 "Lion": So many apps can run in "full screen" mode, allowing you to devote every pixel of the screen to the task at hand -- without menu bars, scroll bars, and the Dock getting in the way. Said a different way: My five star rating would have been in trouble, had this machine not come with Lion.
You can certainly hook the Air up to an external display, but I haven't yet. And frankly, I'm going to resist it as long as I can. Not only do I like the portability, but the gestures you can perform with the trackpad are phenomenal, and greatly enhance my ability to deftly move around the operating system. I'm a demanding, somewhat perfectionistic guy, and I find flicking around between different full-screen applications, Mission Control, and Launchpad, to be a joy.
The graphical performance of this machine is much better than I expected. I've been able to play World of Warcraft at a very respectable framerate at the default settings it installed with.
My only gripes are that I wish the SSD held more, and that the fan can be a little loud. I only get fan noise when playing WoW, though, so I'm not really going to hold that against the Air.
This Air isn't just a machine I got to be able to write code, mess around on the internet, and play games on; it's a machine that I actually really like, and truly enjoy using -- and that's a rare thing.

I am curious the New MBA 11' with i7 is not available for sale on Amazon, how you could get one? One can get their upgraded version with i7 either in Apple Retail store or online.

Very nice review. Said everything I want to say, after owning the 11" for 6 month.
