The book I have been reading, A Day Late, and a Dollar Short, by Terry McMilian, is a really great book. I recommend it to anyone whom loves to read about drama. The book reminds me a little bit of real life, because the characters in the book are similar to some people I know. The characters experience many common situations such as falling in love too fast, getting your heart broken, and not knowing what you want out of life. For example, the main character, Brenda's husband Cecil lied and cheated on her so many times, yet they been together for fifty-five years. Every time he had an affair she took him back; however, she was deeply hurt by his actions. Brenda's son Jackson does not know what he wants to do in his life. After his wife left him, he became depressed and doesn't want to work at all.
Falling too hard for someone can end up in a bad situation. For instance, Brenda's daughter Felicia always falls in love very quickly and does anything to please her men. Consequently, the way she is treated by every boyfriend has broken her down. She is always depressed and lonely. I really think the book is wonderful to read, because you can learn from it. I have learned to speak my mind and to not do for others unless they do for me. Like, if someone does something for me and I do something for them.
