Customer Review

OK so I did a whole lot of research here reading the reviews. What I found was some people loved this microphone and others objected to its high noise level. I went on youtube and listened to it myself. On the youtube videos it sounded real good so I decided to try it myself. Well perhaps I got a lemon, like the other dissatisfied people. The one I got has a very high background hiss or noise level. Also it seems to have a lower then normal output level. Also the mic. volume control is non-linear and has all the volume-control bunched up towards the full clockwise rotation end.
The sound quality, aside from the low level and noise, is good.
I suspect poor quality-control during manufacture. So I ordered another one, to see if I am right. I will return once I test out another one.

Update: I have found that this microphone works entirely differently on windows 7, by that I mean it works good. Plenty of gain and the hiss is down to a level that is acceptable. So it seems like the usb driver in XP sp2 is not right for this mic. I will update more as I discover more.

Update: Samson said I had a defective mic. because of it not working on XP SP2
So I am waiting for another one to arrive.

Update: I received another one. Found it to be about 20% better as far as signal to noise ratio, that 20% makes the difference between usable and not. So I have changed my rating to three. This mic. works better on Windows 7. So if you get a good one it will sound good. Remember the inner workings are made in China. The mic gain control is only active at the end of clockwise rotation, so it is touchy adjusting it, very annoying! I told Samson but they're not interested in customer feedback.
