1.0 out of 5 stars Nice look, bad watch, August 25, 2009
This review is from: Timex Women's T5J131 1440 Sports Digital Blue Resin Strap Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch cause i really liked the look of it and the color and the reviews for it were mostly good. I also needed a watch that was waterproof so that I didn't need to take it off every time i went near water. One small thing that i found annoying was that when setting the time or alarm or anything, you couldn't go down so if you go one minute too high you have to go ALL the way back around. One more thing is that on the timer, you have to reset it every time that you use it. For example, if I set 5 minutes on it, and then pressed start, once it gets down to 0, and I want to use it again I have to reset the whole thing. There was one giant problem with the watch for me. On here it said that it was waterproof. The very first time that it got wet for me it fogged up inside, and I couldn't read the numbers as easily. About a week later, water droplets started getting in my watch. Then all of the numbers disappeared and now its blank. If you ask me, you can find a watch a LOT better than this. It may not look as cool, but this one didn't work at all for me. I had it for less than a month.

The problem with having to run numbers all the way around again is something you get used to. I love my Timex sport watches!! Never had a problem with water though...I would send it back to the company and have them replace it for you.

Water resistance isn't the same thing as waterproof. Look online -- water resistant watches are protected from splashing and dust getting under the crystal and rain, but water resistant to 50m doesn't mean you can swim in it. You have to get an actual waterPROOF to a certain depth watch to be able to dive or swim in it -- and that will cost way more than the $13 of this one.

What were you expecting for $14.00?? Timex has always made a great watch. Never had a problem with one. And I think it very unfair that you gave it a one star...

You got a bad one. I've had mine for 8 years and have snorkeled with it on. The band broke before the watch did.

I like Timex watches and have worn them for years! Wanted a "sporty" watch to wear when working outdoors around my horses that I wouldn't have to worry about getting wet or dirty. However, you need to be a "rocket scientist" just to set the correct time on this watch! The instructions are horrible and in VERY small print! I purchased this watch at WalMart and after the purchase even the clerk said "good luck with the settings". I would NOT recommend purchasing this watch if unfamiliar with this type of watch

My 8th grader set the watch and surfed with it - it worked fine. My Men's Timex has been kicking for a decade or so.
