Worth every cent.,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: D-Link Wireless N300 Mbps Extreme-N Gigabit Router (DIR-655) (Personal Computers)
I bought this router to replace an old netgear wireless G unit. I had to set it up manually because we use netbooks and don't have an external drive yet. The manual setup is anything but straightforward. If you don't know anything about computers or networking I don't recommend manual setup. If you're plugging in to a gateway you may need to change the routers address. After that it was fairly easy.
Speed: Blazing fast. I could hardly believe it. I'm streaming music while my wife is online as well. Page loads and downloads are very fast.
Utility: This router has more than I will ever use. Multiple wireless security options, port forwarding, firewall, intelligent wireless stream handling, virtual server, website and inbound filters, and on and on.
Coolest feature: You can hook up a usb printer to the router and install the shareport utility and use the router like a print server, printing wirelessly from any computer.
Things that could be better: D-link's support stinks. I kept looking on their site to find out how to set up a printer on the router and I couldn't find anything. I finally got instructions from an unrelated support site. Also, whoever decided that the lights on the router should be one million candlepower gets a lousy grade. It lights up the room at night.
In general I would rate this unit five stars. It's a little harder to set up than some routers I've owned, but once it's on it's totally worth it!
