It does work--but you will need to keep buying it.,
This review is from: Mederma Skin Care for Scars, 1.76 oz (50 g) (Health and Beauty)
You will definitely see an improvement in your scars. I repeat that again with emphasis: you will see an improvement. I have to tell you that the improvement won't be until you use maybe five or more tubes over five months. The tube is not that large and it doesn't last all that long. It is costly, no matter where you buy it--the Internet or your local store. But, it is the only scar product I have tried that does what it says it will do---so for the third time: don't expect your scars to be 100% gone, even after five or six tubes. BUT: you will be pleased---very, very pleased, indeed. I would say a 90% improvement, and that is wonderful. But not from one tube. I do recommend it and I like it. Not messy and don't use too much as it flakes off. Follow directions. It is a fine product, but buy in bulk!!!

Scott, this is incredibly helpful--thank you for laying it out straight. I'd rather have reduced expectations going in. And you've encouraged patience and persistent with a product that does help in the end.

I bet your scars would have improved by 90% over five months without using any Mederma.

X. Chang says:
To be honest, you don't need to use 5 or 6 tubes over 5 months. I used only half a tube and my scars are almost gone. Another product to recommend is Boots Scar Expert. It's cheaper, has better reviews and doesn't "ball up" as often as this one.

haha Maxtone that was well said. I often ponder about the motivations behind the reviews here at Amazon.
Thank you "X Chang" for pointing out that Boots Scar Expert product. I will check it out as well.

Your scars will get better after five or six months whether you apply anything to it or not at all. And unfortunately, when compared to placebo, there has never been proof that Mederma provides any superior benefit to just the passage of time.

Depends on the age of the scars too. It also will typically not help stretch marks once they have turned white/silver
