So. Much. Emotion. Ugh, these books! I kept tearing up throughout the book not because of sad things but because I'm a sap, and there were all these little moments that were so touching, or so loving, or so meaningful, or so deep, or so perfect.
Something else I really liked was the way Nathan wasn't invincible. I'm getting tired of normal human characters who get shot, stabbed, and beat up but are fine five minutes later. Nathan actually had pain, needed time to heal, took meds, got groggy, took naps, etc. Even though part of me wanted to slap him myself for constantly re-opening his wounds, he was also kinda cute when he was grumpy.
There was one line that kind of stole the show for me in this book though: "You're not even lying..." I didn't even know I was so invested in Jim and Alex's lack-of-relationship, but I swear I almost melted into a puddle of sap (yes, I seriously just used that word twice in one review) when I read that line. So if you were already of fan of the Jim-Alex relationship in Book 1, you'll be happy to know it gets a little more attention in this book.
But don't worry, the Nathan-Sasha relationship was just as adorable as ever, but with even more depth as they became closer.
So overall, the characters were even more lovable, the plot had just as much going on, and it was another great book in the series!

Five years later, and my first review still holds.
I just want to add, I think part of the reason these books make me so emotional is because bad things happen to these characters, but they always have each other, and because of that, they're able to get through to the other side. That's what gets me the most, the wonderful relationships between these characters.
Also, I want the relationship that Nathan and Sasha have. I read about a lot of great relationships, but I don't necessarily want a real relationship like all of them. There's something that these two have though that is just so beautiful and perfect though. Not perfect in the sense that they never have any issues to talk about, and sometimes talking <i>is</i> their issue (i.e. they have trouble communicating), but there's just such a strong feeling of love and understanding and rightness between them.
Another amazing book that I loved yet again.
