A Must Read For Christians in the Arts,
This review is from: Imagine: A Vision for Christians in the Arts (Paperback)
I read this book several years ago and was truly touched by it, because it validated the way I've always felt as an artist. As a Christian artist, I am inspired by my readings of the Bible, discussions with members of the churches I've attended, and by my work in the various ministries of the church that I've been involved in. In addition, I am the son of a deceased Bishop in the Episcopal Church. Therefore, my art is primarily inspired by my Christian experiences. However, my experiences in the education field for over 20 years and my secular interests, have also served as inspiration. Therefore, my work as an artist is a meld of all these experiences, no matter if they were positive or negative, or what media I may be using. In Mr. Steve Turner's words, "If we want to see art that challenges the prevailing secularism we need artists who are not only skillful but also theologically well equipped, grounded in a fellowship and living obedient lives." I highly recommend this book.
