This is so well told and beautifully illustrated -- children will love it, but so will their parents, family members, siblings, and teachers. It has that comforting quality that the best children's books share.

After more than 40 years I found my childhood neighbor, Penny, and discovered she's the author of this charming book that my grandchildren love having read to them. A double treasure!! Little White Squirrel's Secret is nicely written, flows well, and held the attention of my 8 month old grandson! The illustrations are beautifully done and work perfectly with this sweet children's book!!! I got 3, one for each grandchild! Thank you Penny Hunt for introducing us to Little White Squirrel!!!!

While visiting Bevard I saw my first white squirrel and later in the day a gray squirrel fall trying to jump from one tree to another. The two e nets are what inspired me to write this "can do" story of overcoming challenges of all sorts.

Every time I read this book I get a lump in my throat and tear up. It is a beautifully written and illustrated children's book but is just as applicable to adults. The story speaks to the fact that we are all imperfect and may need a little extra practice from time to time.

The issues facing little white squirrel are not unique to special needs children. They apply to kids who are struggling in any way; be it failing to excel in math, not catching on quickly in spelling or simply lacking in natural athletic abilities; all of whom just need a little more practice than others, preferably away from the watchful eye of their classmates.

I would highly recommend this book as a bedtime story or as an addition to anyone's library.

This book has recently been revised. Be sure to purchase the NEW book and not the old one. The revised book is the one shown with no image available. Educators love this book as it helps mainstream students interface more successfully with the community of special needs students in their school and other environments. Social services professionals are using this book as a first visitation gift for parents of newly diagnosed children in need of special assistance. The story shows the powerful influence parental guidance has in the life of a special needs child and restores hope for better tomorrows.

I have read this book to my children many times, and each time it brings tears to my eyes. This is a sweet, touching story of a little squirrel who has a few more problems than all the other squirrels, but with loving help from his father he is able to cope. It is a tale about using persistence to overcome obstacles, a tale about a 'child' who doesn't quite fit in, and a tale about the acceptance and love of a parent for a child who has difficulties.

It is a beautiful book and a wonderful story, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

What a fun story and one that children can relate to easily. The softly painted graphics take you on Little White Squirrels quest to accomplish jumping like all the other squirrels. He learns that he can do it and through his victory, children are encouraged that they too can get past a difficulty in their life.

I've seen too many children's books with adult issues and scary stories--this book is a gem! Buy one for all the little ones you know!
