3.0 out of 5 starsGrace with the C&C music factory sound.

This album is not as compelling as the Compass Point sessions, and more influenced by the electronically inclined C&C music factory sound,it has a very dated early 90's techno sound. It's very typical of R&B of the late 80's and early 90's...drum machines galore, little if any emphasis on live musicianship, over the top production and even featuring the "house" rapper for C&C music Factory Freedom Wilson as the MC. The C&C music factory were producers/songwriters David Cole&Robert Cliville's who's sound sold millions of records in the early 90's,Grace Jones sound was so diverse that it could be reproduced by any producer, however the C&C production sound was so predictable that on this record the tracks lack the soul that her Island Records material defined. The songs either written or co written by Grace Jones are great and her vocals are superb as always,a few bonus tracks are featured on this remastered edition, otherwise if you're looking for the "best" of Grace Jones checkout her collaborations with Sly&Robbie as musical directors with Chris Blackwell as producer while at his Island Records Compass point studios era.
