One day my ReadyNAS NV+ array went into a perpetual Booting... Please Wait... mode. I opened a trouble ticket with Netgear and got into an endless loop with them as well. They kept asking me if I could access the array over the network. "No, it won't boot up." Eventually I found the diagnostic mode, ran a RAM test which showed a problem with the RAM and a cryptic code. I asked Netgear if buying a new RAM module might help with the problem and what the code meant. They asked me what RAIDAR was saying about the array (nothing, since it wouldn't connect, and it wouldn't boot up). So I decided to just try it and I bought the RAM. Popped it in, did another test for good measure. It came back clean and my array worked again. Awesome.

edit October 2013:
Since install and laptop usage requiring maxed use of ram have suffered several bsod under winXP, and some crashes running livedvd Linux Mint. Replaced piece with 1 rank to eliminate crucial induced controller mismatch.

Ordered a "1 rank" module but received "2 rank" module. This uses a greater number of chips usually of lesser quality- or density to reduce cost. If I had wanted a "2 rank" module I would have purchased one.

The image at the time of purchase here (and on crucial dot com) shows one row of chips on the visible side. A 2 rank module has 2 ROWS of chips instead of 1 ROW.

Fortunately it does appear to function in the OLDer laptop for which it was purchased. Hopefully there will be no controller gotchas waiting down the line.

This module does use Micron chips. It is a double sided, 2 rank module.

Micron is the only memory manufacturer based in the USA: Idaho. Samsung and Hynix, the number 1 and number 2 largest manufacturer of dram respectively, both hail from South Korea.

If you don't mind "2 rank" or your system has controllers made with this possibility in mind and don't care the chips won't be samsung or micron consider the less costly:

Patriot Signature 1 GB SODIMM PC-2700 DDR-333 Memory Module -PSD1G33316S

That patriot module uses Nanya chips. Patriot might have used Elpida but since Micron acquired Elpida we might not see Elpida branded chips in the future. Micron now might be the 3rd largest dram manufacturer.

Whatever chips Crucial opts to use I hope they'll be a bit more honest with product representation.

Absolutely fantastic!

Thanks to the other commenters who confirmed and gave me the confidence to buy this.

My old ReadyNAS NV+ died on me, and after troubleshooting I realised it was the RAM that's faulty. I replaced it with this Crucial 1G stick and it did the trick. I also confirm this works with the NV+ (v1)

I too was hit with a NETGEAR ReadyNAS NV+ V1 that was stuck on boot up. Ran the memory test and found my 1Gig module was bad. (To run a memory test you power off. Then press and hold the power button, when the "memory test" shows on the display release the power button). As others have already said, this module is compatible with the NETGEAR ReadyNAS NV+ V1. My NAS is up and running again for minimal $.

Deserves negative star rating!

Does not work on Apple PowerBook G4 Systems, although it should. I discovered this too late. (Slapped myself silly.)

PC2700 memory (DDR-333MHz, 200-Pin SODIMM) is precisely the memory required by my Apple's PowerBook G4, 1.5HGz. I triple-checked before purchase.

No mistake. And no disclaimers published by Crucial RE: Apple PowerBooks.

So I lost $39.99, which is what I paid to Amazon then, to learn about this unexplained incompatibility.

Being beyond Amazon's (outstanding!) 30-day warranty window, I was pushed into the Crucial so-called "lifetime" warranty, whose RMA demands that:

1. you return the memory on its original package (LOL!)
2. with the original receipt
3. packaged and mailed-back with tracking at your own nickel, and that
4. refunds will be made only to "current market value", not to a higher price shown by the receipt.

Basically, a useless "lifetime" warranty, where Crucial bets that no one will ever go thru steps 1-4 demanding a refund when their memory does not work.

Crucial 1GB DDR-333MHz, PC2700, 200-PIN SODIMM 2.5V CL=2.5 Unbuffered Non-ECC Laptop Memory Upgrade - CT12864X335

I bought two of these sticks to upgrade an older Dell laptop. Looking through Crucial's website was very helpful in determining what type of ram I could install and the specific specifications of the ram I needed to buy. Looking around online I found that amazon had the best deal on the ram I needed.

I give this product five stars because of the usefulness of Crucial's website and that I have not experienced any ram related problems with this product. Overall I would buy Crucial ram again if needed.

It works perfect. Replaced a kensington brand memory card that failed. Took me weeks of computer blue screen to finally discover the bad ram was the problem. As soon as I took it out, the computer worked fine. It was a good lesson to learn. Blue screens of death may be caused by bad memory. If there ever is a problem with your computer, pull our the ram and put it back in stick by stick to see if it is the problem.

Bought this to replace the dead RAM in my Toughbook CF-29. Works perfectly.

This memory works great, just as it should. It may not solve all the problems that cause my very old laptop to be so slow, but at least it allows it to remain usable as a backup - before I got a new (refurb) laptop, this one was so frustrating at first boot that it was nearly unusable. It's my second memory upgrade, so I knew just how to do it, and I was still able to use a "memory finder" tool for locating the proper one for my computer. An easy process at low cost.

I am not too computer savvy but I was having some computer issues and my computer guy told me I needed more memory. Got the chip in the mail, unscrewed the bottom of the computer and it fit right in. My Acer recognized it and installed it (or whatever it had to do) and I was up and running a lot faster in 5 minutes. Great product, helped with my situation and such an easy install, even a girl can do it, lol.
I would recommend this product especially for the price I paid, it really helped.
