Turns out it was a used previously opened box and print server. There was a password from the previous owner and I could not use it. Besides that when I called Linksys to find out about resetting it I was told it was out of warrantee and registered to someone else. They would not help me. Also completely aside it will not work with windows 10. All in all disappointed.

It is OK make certain that you have a power supply for it. Very difficult to find.

This worked fairly good for a few months. Biggest problem I had was that: (1) This forces the attached printer to become the default printer. This is not what I wanted as I bought this for a secondary photo printer and still use a close by, and attached, laser printer for 95% of my printing needs. Linksys support confirmed there is no work around for this. (2) You can not monitor printer status through the print server so you lose the ability to monitor ink levels.

But after a few months my WPS54G decided to stop working. It will no longer connect wirelessly and any attempt to do so, or access the internal web based set up screens, causes the WPS54G to totally lock up. Tried troubleshooting myself for several hours with the only result being that I saw comments from others posting on other web sites who have the same unresolved problem. Spent a couple hours with Linksys Tech Support only to be either hung up on or disconnected twice before problem was resolved. Complained to customer service who transferred me to Sr. Tech Support only to wait on hold for about 45 minutes before giving up. I will say I got a follow up call from a nice US based customer support rep. who is attempting to resolve, but that was three days ago and no resolution yet. I know this unit is defective and needs replacement under warranty, but getting a return authorization or diagnosis has taken hours over four days so far with no resolution in sight. It really doesn't make sense to spend so much time on this (maybe that is what Linksys hopes for) but I want to see this to some resolution on principle at this point.

It was working fine but stopped working all together after 6 months of use. Nothing changed on my setup. In my last attempt to fix it, I connected the print server directly to the router using the network cable and tried to run setup again, but no IP address could be found. I think something fried inside the print server. Just lost $100.00.

Initially installed and worked fine. After 2 months stopped connecting to wireless network, then stopped connecting even when hardwired. And my WPS54G unit seems to run very hot, almost too hot to hold in hands. Ok, things happen, it's still under warranty, so I'll just get it replaced, right? Wrong!

This was mentioned by other reviewers, when you call Linksys support they will quiz you on your router before they even get to the print server. But it's not just an inconvenience of answering irrelevant questions. My router, although Linksys, is out of warranty. It's been working flawlessly for 3.5 years with 8 other devices connected to it. This does not convince Linksys support though. It'd be $30 to proceed with troubleshooting the under warranty print server because the router is out of warranty. I can only guess what the poor souls with non-Linksys routers are told. At that point I gave up, it's easier and cheaper to get a new print server. Not a Linksys this time.

I am currently on my second print server. The first one was always very hot, even if it was not being used. Well after a year it just stopped working. No lights nothing. The only reason I purchased another one was because all my other wireless products were Linksys. This time I attached a large heat sink to one side. This one runs much cooler. With all of the problems setting up my router, print server, range expander (all Linksys) I wish I had gone with another vendor. Now my range expander has stopped working after about a year and I assume it would be the same problem as the print server - heat. Oh well, this time I will switch to another brand and as my Linksys products die, I will replace them with their competitors brand. I am tired of customer service that can't speak English, setup instructions not written by English speaking employees and a total lack of knowledge of their own product.

The print server works for my computers and printer, although it does not work with WPA encryption.

I'm rating it only 3 stars because because of Linksys. I received the product from the Amazon vendor quickly and thought it would be up and running in minutes. After almost 3 hours with Linksys tech support, they proclaimed it a "firmware issue" and had me return it to the vendor for replacement. I received the replacement only to encounter the same problem. After 2 more hours with Linksys tech support, I was told that since my printer would also scan, fax, and copy, I needed the WPSM54G for a multifunction printer. Don't know how I could have known that. I had researched the product on the Linksys site prior to ordering. Just didn't want anyone else to have to endure a tech support nightmare.

Beware! This product is outdated. I'm fairly tech savvy and could not get it functioning correctly on my up-to-date top quality router and network. Called for tech; requires expert; they will call me back when they get to me. Sigh. I love Linksys products. This one is just too old and hard to use.
