Wish it had rear retention dial thing like other Schwinn helmets!
on September 7, 2011
We ordered 2 Schwinn helmet's off of amazon.com, one for my 4.5 yr old and one for my 2.75 yr old. We got this one for the 4.5 yr old, and the Schwinn carnival toddler helmet for the 2.75 yr old. Both my girls have smallish heads, 25-50 percentile. This one would have been too big for my younger daughter.
Anyway, the carnival one is much better than this one. That one has a dial in the back of the helmet that is VERY handy to adjust the helmet tension without having to mess around so much with the straps. This one is the regular 'old school' style that does not have that rear retention dial. After having several bike helmets for my girls now, I would say I will never buy one again that doesn't have that awesome schwinn rear retention dial thing - I am sad this one doesn't. Unfortunately the description on this product was ambiguous, so I thought maybe it would have it, but it doesn't. I am thinking of returning this one and getting the other one for my 4.5 year old. The dial thing makes it SO much easier and such a better fit that I just think the kids enjoy them more and stick to getting on with having fun biking instead of messing around with their helmet. Maybe when they get older I will want a different style, but until then, now that I have seen and used that dial, I don't wanna go back to dealing with all the straps!!!
