A number of years ago, I created a dessert called "Brownie Tuesdays", which involve brownies topped with pudding and a homemade sauce, often vanilla or butterscotch, topped with whipped cream. I was distraught when Amazon discontinued the regular brownie mix, but decided to try these. My sons agreed to try this new formulation made with a number of different recipes (based upon earlier Betty Crocker product instructions)- a batch each day for a week. I'm sure you can all imagine what a sacrifice this was for them - eating brownies every day ;-)

The nomenclature "low fat" appears to refer to the fact that this mix uses only one egg instead of 2, and has reduced by about 85% the amount of oil used. The recipe on the box makes very sticky, fudgy brownies. Using the recipe from the previous mix (2 eggs, 1/2 cup oil, 1/4 cup water) makes a cake-like recipe. Using the recipe I remember from 30+ years ago (1 egg, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup oil) makes a fudgy, but less sticky, brownie.

Also, it's worth noting that I was given a stoneware pan a couple of years back, and I use it to make my brownies now. They cook much more evenly.

This is the best low fat brownie mix. I make it with 1/4 cup water and 1 can of black beans with juice. Puree - 9 / 13 pan. Time on brownie package. They freeze really great and can eat them that way.

I know the brownie snobs will give their silly input but I really like these brownies. I ordered the regular Betty Crocker brownies then subsequently ordered these after reading the reviews on Amazon. They taste great even though they have less of a chocolate flavor than the regular fat brownies. If you like brownies and are not an overly critical buyer, you can't go wrong with these, especially for the price I paid. Thanks folks for the great product reviews.

I love these things. They really taste better than any other Betty Crocker brownie mix...I've never figured out why they have become so hard to find in the stores.

These came out a bit dry and certainly not as good as the regular. Yes, it is fat reduced and if you absolutely have to cut the fat then these will do. It would probably be better to just make the regular and cut your calories some other way
