I think it's important to mention that this comes UN-ASSEMBLED. Otherwise it seems to be strong enough for someone weighing a bit over 200 pounds. It may hold a lot more weight. The seat is much broader than two of mine and I weigh 160 pounds. This may be a factor of how high the user elevates the stool - this is adjustable. I don't know. But while the shower stool is fine for me, it is a judgement call for others with disabilities.

UPDATE 6/24/13:

I finally got the nerve to put this thing together. It tTook me three or four minutes. It's so simple and so obvious how to do it. And it clearly is very strong - stronger than I first thought. I have a shower only in my apartment. This is a great thing for people with compromised physical abilities. A tub can get in the way of showering.

The height of the shower chair is controlled by setting each of the four legs the same. In the shower it feels very secure and I have no need for help. But, of course, we all have differing abilities.

The details on these chairs were a little confusing with regard to how high the chair can be positioned. The one I received at its tallest height measures 21.5 inches from the ground to the seat of the chair. I was worried it wouldn't be high enough but it was too high, so having the adjustable heights was the absolute best. Love the chair, my mom has been having uses with arthritis I her foot so this is for her but could actually be used to bath toddlers, massage, steam or exfoliate while in the shower....

This chair folded on me the first time I used it and i hit the floor of the tub. I am about 200 lbs. I read that it was supposed to hold like up to 250 lbs. I feel this shower chair is dangerous and made out of flimsy parts. I would not recommend this to anyone.

This product is sturdy and adjustable in height. I keep it at the highest, to sit while I wash my feet and legs in the tub. I think the 1 star ratings are bogus. I weigh 240 lbs, and it easily holds my weight. Nothing has bent or come loose. Have had it for quite some time, so I am positive it will last for years. It is very light and easy to take out of the tub to clean. I've even taken it outside to sit on while I pot flowers! Rinses off completely. Highly recommend.

Legs are a bit wobbly. They are attached to the seat with thumbscrews and you cannot get them tight enough to hold the legs secure. Even with the wobbly legs it holds me fine at 250 lbs so it works, just a bit sketchy. Great for short term use but spend a few extra if you need a shower seat for extended use

Lifesaver. I cannot lift a 250lb man. My man needs this and it supports his weight well. Sturdy construction with easy assembly. No slipping anywhere with this. Good height (considering my man is a tall guy). Easy to clean. Does not harbor odors, etc.

This needs a small amount of assembly but has thumb screws so no tools needed, just finger tighten and thats it.
The shower seat is very strong but lightweight and easy to lift or move.
It is wide and i wish i had bought the smaller round one as the feet sit on the begining of the curve of the bottom of the tub, still, it is very stable.

Beware, the stock picture is inaccurate. It shows a cut-out on the side to hang a long-handled sponge other accessories. I was disappointed to find out that this cut-out does not exist in the actual item. Other than that, I like the wide range of adjustability. And it seems sturdy enough for me. I weigh 170 pounds.

This simple to adjust shower chair is lightweight and easy to use while in the shower. It's also very easy to store when not in use. I'd recommend this to anyone who is stable enough to stand and move around but has difficulties with standing for longer periods of time. This seller shipped so quickly! I ordered on a Friday and received it by the end of business on a Tuesday! Price is reasonable as well!
