Pretty reliable device, no complaints.

Excellent reliability. I've tried my share of cheap undercover equipment, most just breaks after a month, but worst of all they are just plain unreliable. Not so for this particular pen camera, I've had this PH720HD pen cam for about a month and it's very reliable. Most importantly, "it works when I need it to work". The HD picture looks great outdoors. Indoors it looks more like standard definition, but I have absolutely no complaints given the small size of the sensor and the undercover nature of the device. Most ultra compact undercover devices that shoot in color have 1.0 lux+ sensors anyway, which provide ample video but nothing stunning.
The other nice thing about this device is the fixed zoom is not too wide angle, meaning that you do not have to be ultra close to your subject to obtain good video. Standing about 10 feet away from your subject with this device will still provide you good detail, making the objects/people easy to identify. You might have some trouble if you are shooting seminars in the back of a room. I've noticed that beyond 35 feet indoors, detail becomes more grainy. Outdoors, quality is good up to approx. 50-75 feet.
This pen has 3 settings. A small selector switch lies inside the pen's base, revealed by unscrewing the bottom portion. You can switch between R (recording mode), M (megapixel photo mode), and L (listening/voice recording mode). Each mode is identified by a tiny color coded light on the rear of the pen, making it easy to identify which mode you're in without removing the pen cap. Starting and stopping is very practical and simple, click the top of the pen once to start and click again to stop. Hold down for 4 seconds to turn off. Additionally, this device DOES HAVE time/date stamp for those interested.
