Each of the former reviewers has pointed out many of the fine features of this book. You don't have to have knowledge of astrology to appreciate it and gain from reading it. It may even be best if you do not. The first two sections are filled with Jungian teachings about projection and understanding the dynamics which our unconscious wounds bring to any close relationship. Her writing style is friendly, conversational, and easy to read; and her personal stories enrich the information presented. Other astrology books about relationships try to tell you what planet/sign etc. goes well with what other one, or doesn't go well, and what will happen with certain cross aspects. The implication being that you can choose or avoid relationships based on external symbols. Rebeca does a masterful job of explaining that relationships are what we bring to them, and important relationships have the purpose of teaching ourselves about who we really are...the good and the ugly. She gives thorough explanations as to why we need to become aware of our inner dynamics in order to have successful relationships. If we do not, we are going to meet ourselves in others....the projection. In the second part of the book, Rebeca also improves the usual application of astrology to relationships. She describes a broad range of possible expression for astrological symbols. She makes it clear that these are symbols of our own inner psychic dynamics, not external causes. The expression of these depends upon each person's level of self-awareness, conscious evolution and authenticity, not upon whether they exist in your birth chart or the chart of a partner. It is clear that they are symbols of potential only; the expression varying with each person's level of development. She gives much food for thought and worksheet pages where one can write reflections. At the back of the workbook, for further study, she gives a wonderful list of books and authors. Many of these she refers to in her text. Rebeca's workbook is designed for self-discovery and well worth the journey. As an astrologer myself who is very interested in relationship dynamics, I highly recommend this book!
All I can say this is the only book I felt was more clear and helpful compared to other texts out on Amazon. But I would say exercises at the end of each chapter will help you structure your responses and revelations from these exercises are going to be surprising (and probably hurtful at the same time). If you are willing to understand yourself, your life and situations, this book can provide some great insights that you might not have encountered before.Good Luck!!
Rebeca’s book is very lucid, articulate, and nicely organized, which helps readers focus on what’s essential while also participating in what they're learning. The folksy, conversational style with lots of stories and anecdotes give this workbook a personal, readable quality that pulls you in – almost like an adventure story! A long time exponent of Jung and true lover of his work, Rebeca utilizes Jung's concept of the shadow to good advantage in her interpretations of 7th house planets, relationship dynamics, and more. Readers will find much to ponder in these pages.
Rebeca Eigen’s fine workbook presses astrology forward out of the age of determinism and fortune-telling. She speaks empoweringly of the choices we make, even in the face of the most challenging dimensions of our natures. Individuals, and especially couples, everywhere will find it direct, penetrating and eminently helpful. I recommend it without reservation.
This book continues to challenge me in all aspects of my life in becoming a more conscious person to better my marriage, personal life, and relationship with God. Being a Christian made me a little skeptical, but after reading through the first few pages I felt like God was speaking to me, and I was not dening my faith. I would have to say that this book is very practical, user friendly, and will make you feel comfortable reading it as a Christian because of how intigrated biblical concepts are used in explaining these ideas and concepts. I encourage anyone to read this book and challange yourself to change for the better and not be afraid for God did not give us the spirit of fear but of love and a sound mind, so let the spirit of God guide you in all things. I am truly amazed at the depth of this book. Shadow work is a hard thing to do and a difficult subject to write about, and Rebeca Eigen has done this with true brilliance. Lovers of Jungian thought will delight in this profound work.
