First time using VR: Love it.
January 7, 2019
Took a star off because literally days after launch the price dropped $100. Other than that, this was my first VR experience. I went into it with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.
Beat saber is insanely addicting. Once you get your camera and in game settings just right (floor height adjustment) there are zero tracking issues. I could play this for hours and not feel motion sick (it is a stationary game). Songs are addictive and looks like there are plans to add more (already updated with one new song so far).
Borderlands is also fun but unless you're a seasoned VR veteran or don't get motion sick easy, definitely tweak your settings first. Full locomotion made me instantly sick, but that's my own fault for not easing into it and getting my "VR legs." There are plenty of comfort settings for you to adjust. My second time through after tweaking I made it to a half hour of play. Just one of those things you have to get use to.
The demo disc comes packed with a ton of games that leave you wanting more. Even games I thought would be lame like job simulator had me smiling and wanting to buy within a minute. The videos online really don't do VR justice. Once you're in the headset it's a whole new 3D world. Just added fruit ninja and batman: arkham vr, which I highly recommend for first timers.
My only complaint (other than the annoying price drop) is the blurriness. Seems like matter how much I measure my eyes there is a very miniscule opening for a clear image. Even then text is hard to read. I know the image quality is split between each eye but it looks like I'm trying to watch a 480p video on a HD tv. Maybe it's suppose to look like that but in games like Moss it definitely shows.
I'm also using an og PS4 and not the Pro, which I hear makes significant improvements to the sharpness.
All in all, if you already have a pro and your curious about VR. Buy it. Don't even think about it. Just make sure to cover all the adjustment settings first (camera, eye measurement, move controller alignment
etc) and you'll be in for an enjoyable ride.
