I originally have a g500, but that started to wig out around 2011, so i went with a g500s because i like the ergonimics and weight of them. The first g500s lasted to about 2016 and then it met an unfriendly end during a night of binge gaming. It wasn't the mouse's fault but rather a very fowl moody player who went into a rage after several unrighteous deaths in battlefield 4 (that game still torques me off sometimes), and let just say the mouse took the brunt of a anger filled pounding. It held its own, for several slams, but unfortunately is sucumed to its' wounds.
After looking at poor broken and bettered mouse, i decided it was time to stop, and luckily i still had the original alienware crap mouse to hook up so i could order another G500s. ( And as a backup i order a 3rd one a month later just in case i hadnt fully learned from my previous childish outburst.
I am happy to say the 2nd mouse is still clicking and flicking away with a new Alienware R9 computer and the 3rd G500s still waiting to be called out of the box.
The downside? I cannot fathom paying $200 bucks for this mouse now, I bought the g500 for $38 and the 2 G500ses for $51(ish). I think for that cash, I'd put out for the new G903 and put that fancy new wireless charging mat under it, and come into the cord cutting era, BUT, i think Id be getting ready to go into a pine box before these mice give out.
