They are fine, but be careful if you have a big head

They ended up being exactly what I was looking for. They fold up into a really impressively small size to be tucked into backpack pockets, large coat pockets, or the included hard shell case. The build quality is SOLID, they really feel quality and sturdy. The sound quality is definitely good and (to me) on par with some pretty respected cans, but I imagine you could find equal sound quality in cheaper packages with cheaper materials and no convenient folding mechanism, so think about if those features are worth a premium to you. They were for me. They also look really, really nice on the head, not that that matters.
They push HARD against your ears. I wear these working in a laboratory for hours and after three or four hours it really starts to hurt my ears, then when I shift them around it hurts even worse. At that point I have to take a break or move them to my temples and up the volume. Do know that I have a HUGE head, as in, even "one size fits all" hats often can't stretch over this noggin. I have found that wearing winter hats (beanies) with the headphones over them alleviates the problem. I wish they sold plush earpieces for these. Another effect of the clamping: these things SEAL! I have to take them off to hear my labmates talking.
They are worth the pain though, because 1) the convenience of portability for my commutes and 2) they look nice, sound nice, and I'm confident they won't fall apart anytime soon.
