It is basically Star fox 64 with horrible controls. Same plot, same levels, better graphics and that's it. I gave up after 2h as it is impossible to keep an eye on both the pad and the TV. Because you need to constantly look at both for 1st person and 3rd person view or you won't hit anything else than buildings. I have played every Star Fox game to 100% completion and this is the first one I really hated enough to give up after the 2nd mission. I have rarely been this frustrated with a video game.
The game is easy to pick and play, although you will find the gamepad makes it a bit tricky to control mainly due to having to look at the TV and the gamepad at the same time - and this game makes extensive use of the gamepad. If you want to play this game without it getting annoying (which it can), then play with another partner - one to navigate and the other to shoot or vice versa - you decide.
a lot of hate surrounding this game. the controls are fine, they just take a lot of time to master. if your willing to learn the controls properly this game is not as bad as people are making it out. putting aside the drone missions of course.
I have to admit I think I enjoyed this game more than my 10 year old! I was disappointed that he didn't take to it (as much as I did), so when he stopped playing it I was a little disappointed to be honest. It has some pretty banging aerial combat, even adults will be impressed.
Okay game, but hard to control and completely not what expected. Was expecting to be able to play as the fox like on GameCube, but so far it's all plane and technology based. To be honest, the box had little to no gameplay information which advertises what the game was about. Overall, not what I was wanting.
Was really looking forward to this, but the dual screen controls makes it really difficult to play and I gave up after a while as it just wasn't fun to be constantly looking up at your TV then at the pad, then back to the TV every 5 seconds.
Control scheme takes some getting used to, but once mastered can be a really immersive experience. Can be played in co-op., which i'd highly recommend as it simplifies the controls for each player (one for general maneuverability, the other for aiming through the cockpit.
