Inaccurate distances, difficult to set up.
June 1, 2017
The purpose of using a GPS device on a golf course is to determine the distance between your location and the green and in that respect this device fails miserably. I took this out on the course today for the first time along with a voice caddie device and the TomTom device was consistently off by at least 10-20 yards on every single hole. This was a 3 prong test, I was also using the yardage markers provided by the course and where the Voice Caddie would be accurate to the middle of the green the TomTom was saying the same distance was to the back of the green. One hole the TomTom said a par 3 was 95 yards to middle but the course marker and Voice caddie said it was 140 to the middle. The TomTom is just too unreliable to continue using. Besides the discrepancies with the distances (don't all the devices use the same satellites?) the setup was just a bear to get through, the golf GPS has been split out from the fitness device but the separation of the web site setups has been jury rigged and not well written. Bottom line, I'm staying away from TomTom from now on.
UPDATE: The default measurement is in meters and not yards, this must be manually changed each and every time you use it. This solves the inaccurate distances. Also, it doesn't always advance to the next hole so if you're not paying attention you can get some wildly inaccurate distances.
