It would be nice, just now and again, if when I pay for a game that I can play all of it... but no. Like everything else I need to "unlock" sections and scenarios. Or I have to play against people on the internet who have far more time and skill than me. I'm not saying remove those features "campaign mode" or "multiplayer", but for people like me that enjoy Starwars and have a few minutes now and again - it would be nice if I could jump straight into any scene in the game.
I really liked this game, only bought it once the news came out that they were binning micro-transactions on the main characters etc and leaving them on the optional loot boxes, don't even both with buying the loot boxes as they don't enhance the game play, only the aesthetics of the characters (costume and victory pose). Campaign was great and drew me in really well, once I got onto the online play it was brilliant, different map types enable completely different experiences and the range of weapons and characters is brilliant, feels like how it should have been all along but they clearly messed it up with the in game transactions.
I personally don’t like the gameplay since the last version. They've messed this up. Rather than taking aspects of the old game that worked well, they seem to have tried to re-invent the whole concept. Getting reasonable weapons seems to take an age. Also the collecting credits and cards and all that faff just spoils the game for me. Opening the crates is a painful and pointless aspect of the game. Graphics are awesome however. Its a shame as I don't like playing it anymore due to the poor gameplay design.
Game is cinematic quality, I'm really surprised. The controls are a little finicky but that might just be me as my 8 year old can manage it. However, on first insertion, it needs about a day to complete the updates and downloads, so if you're in a hurry, you'll have to be patient. The stats seem to suggest it needed about 70-80 GB of data updates, so if you're working from home, this'll kill off any VOIP calls you're likely to make during the day. Good game and attention to detail is apparently "amazing" according to my older boy.
Good game. As a Star Wars fan, it was really cool to fly the Falcon etc. But the campaign needs more content, because once you get the hang of the controls a d loadouts, you could probably complete the campaign in an hour or two. I'm not an online player, so I play campaign games.
Two steps forward and ONE back in my opinion. Okay sure, the leveling system at the start was a joke, but this is standard for EA games these days, it is expected.
The game itself offers a lot more content than the first one did, which is great. Although they have also taken out good aspects of the first game too, little things like the cards and boosts available (jet pack no longer unlockable?!?). On that front they've almost done a 'COD' by over complicating it, when the first game struck a perfect balance for them.
Would have been 4* if not for the whole fiasco with micro transactions. Would have been 5* without micro transactions AND without them changing the positive aspects of the first game.
