I was really excited for this game when I first heard about it. Loved the game. I read video game reviews sometimes and people always talk how great the visuals are and whatnot, but I've never cared *too* much about that. Until this game. Wow. It looks incredible. Like it somehow belongs on a NextGen console instead of the PS4. Story also was really compelling and loved playing through that the best. Honestly one of the best stories for a game I'eve ever played.
It's open world. Very big. It seems like they've incorporated a lot of ideas that stood out from other games, at times it's been reminiscent of playing Skyrim, Far Cry, Tomb Raider 2013 , Mass Effect and others. I normally am very annoyed by cut scenes (can't stand Witcher or Metal Gear games because of them) but the ones in this game are poignant and so well done I really enjoyed them.
Gameplay was challenging and lots of fun. Gives you the option of playing sneaky and stealthy or confrontational and it's easy to switch between them on the fly. Usually I tend to try to do everything in open world games before completing the story, but I just couldn't wait this time. Haven't explored everything yet, but after the story, I'm not sure anything in the game can compare to that. Well done.
Game is very enjoyable with a very unique storyline. I find the gameplay to be pretty intuitive although the game can seem very intimidating when just starting. Sometimes it feels stressful, but overall it's a fun game with multiple gameplay mechanics that keep it interesting. My favourite aspect is the freedom this game allows for as most objectives can be achieved by multiple methods and a person can choose to sneak through most the game or be aggressive. Looking forward to a sequel!
After getting the platinum trophy with ~40 hours of nonstop fun, I'd say this is absolutely GOTY material. Most fun game I've played since The Elder Scrolls Oblivion or Assassin's Creed 2. A constant adventure with a story I couldn't get enough of, I found myself playing until 3 am a few times without realizing it. The main story was very well done and the side missions didn't just feel like filler. Add to the fact that a few times I'd actually get scared when encountering various bots makes this my favorite game of this gen so far. This game is absolutely worth every penny!
This game was a must when I saw it was coming out. I'm even more shocked now after playing it for about a month. This will likely be and rightfully deserves to be the game of the year! I know most games coming out have on-line play, and truthfully that is the only knock on this game. However, I love the single person aspect of this and it is easily a game that can be played over and over again.
This game is great. Hours upon hours of open world action/adventure fun. I bought this game to keep me entertained over the summer lull, and it has filled that role perfectly. I have been pleasantly surprised with the story. I didn't know what to expect when I was getting into this, but it's been great.
Dinosaurs and robots? What's not to love! If you're on the fence, go ahead and get this game. It's got heart, it's got great graphics, it's got a good story without being too hammy. Other than TLOU, it's my favorite PS4 game.
Beautiful yes but I'm smacking two Thunderjaws at once on hard with the ancient armor(yes I play in hard). It's rather repetitive and you run out of things to do after the main quest. They focused to much in the beauty and not enough on the depth of the story. Yes it had a "decent" story but I don't feel like it's story lived up to its AAA status
When I first saw trailers for this game last year, I thought it was going to be just another graphics demo. I assumed this would be like Killzone where the graphics are amazing but the actual game is mediocre.
Fast forward a couple months and I'm stuck playing only Overwatch, which is a fantastic game, but I wanted more. Battlefield and Call of Duty were fun for a while but I wanted something new. Given that the only other big title coming out besides Horizon was Mass Effect: Andromeda, I didn't really have to worry about what other games I could be saving up for. So I took the risk and I bought the digital version. Sure, I could have bought the disk and returned it if it wasn't any good, but digital download is too good albeit the no return policy. But I am damn glad I choose to get it digital and it was well worth $60. I would never want to return this game because its surprisingly replayable. The game has a fun, well paced story. The game mechanics feel pleasantly polished. Even the side missions are a bit deep in plot.
When you play this game, you'll notice that it takes many great mechanics from other popular games, and perfects them. Whether it be the skill trees from Far Cry, the movement in Assassin Creed, or the jaw dropping graphics of Uncharted, you can tell that the developers have been taking notes about what works. Even the inventory system is fantastic. Unlike Skyrim where you have no idea if you should keep an item, Horizon tells you exactly what each item can be used for. On top of that, the game has a side bar where it reminds you what each weapon icon represents, when you're looking at your weapons menu. That helps so much with games that you might come back to a few months later. Something seemingly insignificant as inventory menu designs, can make picking up the game easier for any player at any time.
I personally don't have any cons with this game, except that it forced me to put down 3 days of playing straight. I lost myself during those days, but it was worth it. If you're getting it for your significant other, just be pepared to not see him/her for a while. So what the hell are you waiting for? Get this game already. I'd even bet this game is going to be Game of the Year. And I can't wait for the sequel, great job devs.
A pure masterpiece. Guerilla did it again with an amazing game for the playstation 4. The game had scored good reviews from most of the critics and in my opinion is a must have for any playstation owner.
