Kid-Proof with Drop Protection? I don't think so!!
Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2018
I purchased this Chromebook on January 7, 2018. Up until this evening, it has served its purpose. Unfortunately, my son accidentally dropped it onto the floor (about a 2-foot drop). Although the screen appeared fine, blue/purple pixels soon appeared at the bottom of the screen, followed by bright purple streaks. I immediately called Dell's Tech Support, where I learned that the "one-year warranty" is actually only nine months, and does not cover "accidental damage". I get that WE damaged the product. What I don't understand, however, is why Dell boasts of the "Drop Protection" that it clearly does not have. When I told the Tech rep about the "kid-proof" Chromebook with "Drop Protection", she chuckled and asked, "who told you THAT?!" She then told me that it was probably fine since the unit was still working. However, she would not "troubleshoot" the problem of the pixels without charging a fee.
If you are looking for a basic Chromebook, this is fine.
If you are looking for a kid-proof Chromebook with "Drop Protection" as well as reasonable customer support, this is NOT the product to purchase.
