5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!

I bought this phone with high expectations and in the week I’ve so far owned it I haven't been disappointed! I'll split into sections the different part of the phone.

Display
The display on this phone is unbelievable, the 6.8" AMOLED display is stunning, and the images and videos online don't do it justice. You must see it in person to see how good it is. No doubt it's currently the best display on the market bar none. The display does have a holepunch camera on the top centre of the screen, but I stopped noticing it after a day. It's far better solution than having a notch like other phones.

Battery & Charging
Battery life is excellent. The phone easily lasts me all day, when I go to bed it usually still has around 15% battery and I spend a lot of time on the phone. Really impressed this phone comes with a 25W charger and this charges the phone up in just over an hour which is incredible. I quickly charge it when I wake up and by time I'm ready to go out it's at 100%. The phone also supports reverse wireless charging which is a fantastic feature. It means I can charge my earbuds on the go without having to take any wires. I’ve also had a situation with a friend who was going to have to leave a night out early because their phone was going to die, but they put on the back of mine and it gave them enough battery so they didn't have to rush off straight away and they managed to get home without a dead phone.

Call Quality
The call quality has been excellent, I've had no problems with hearing people when talking on the phone and no one reported having trouble hearing me either.

Storage
The phone comes with 256GB which I think is great for the base model, especially when similar priced competitors in this market only offer 64GB. Plus, if that isn't enough for you, the phone has an MicroSD Card slot for even more storage if required. Again, something else that similar priced phones don't offer.

Camera
I think if this phone did have a slight achilles heel it is probably the camera. It is one of the best cameras on the market for bright daytime shots. However, in low light shots it's decent, but it isn't as good as the IPhone 11 pro or Pixel 4 in my opinion. When I compare the photos with friends who have those devices, I just don't think the photos look as realistic on the Note 10+. The video quality is also very good on the phone and has excellent stabilization and I'd say only the IPhone beats it.

Unlock the Phone
The phone has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and I have found it pretty reliable. 9 times out of 10 it opens the phone up for me straight away. It does also have facial recognition, but I haven't used it so couldn't tell you how well that works.

SPen
This is the first Note phone I've ever owned so my first experience of using the S-Pen and I think it's fantastic. Really nice to be able to jot down notes like you were writing it down on a notepad. I also really like the air gestures especially on YouTube app. You can just swipe the pen and it will do things like play, pause and change the volume of the video. You can also do this in the camera app where gestures can take pictures and change camera modes etc.

Other Features
One thing I like about this phone and Android is the ability to multi-task. It's great to be able to browse a web page and watch a YouTube video in a split screen mode. This is something I couldn't do on my previous phone which was an IPhone. I also really like the edge panels which opens a panel of apps and other features when you touch the edge of the screen.

Cons
If there was something I was a little disappointed with, it would be no headphone jack. Means I can't use any of my wired headphones with the phone without buying an adapter. Perhaps that would have been a nice edition to have in the box.

Overall I'd have no problem at all recommending this phone to anyone! It has more features and storage than its main rival the IPhone and it's a lot cheaper currently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this phone!

Having watched lots of You Tube videos this phone was exactly the right choice for me. This phone took a week to arrive - disappointing but was as promised. I paid Β£699 for it January 2020 and it was the cheapest I found anywhere at the time. I was sad it wasn't less but at least it's kept it's value well and is still popular. Transferring data from my old phone was a doddle.

The size doesn't seem to cause me any problems to handle as I have small hands and long fingers (Mmmurrrrrrr!). You'd need good size pockets though; and a teeny handbag won't cut it!

Still learning new things all the time 6 months later from this gorgeous phone and enjoying the journey. I'd recommend those YT videos though as some of the settings hacks you'll not really grasp without the explanation. Its so customisable you'll need help! Fingerprint reader is not as reliable as I'd like and I don't use Facial recognition.

Watching video and audio is wonderful - and doesn't cause much of a temperature increase, negligible really. But, along with casting, it does drain the battery a little faster. No processing lag, just gorgeous!

The SPen is great - I don't use it a hell of a lot, but when I do it's great once you've gotten used to it! It's not difficult per se but you do need to adjust to take advantage of what it can do.

I also treated myself to a Samsung Galaxy Active 2 smartwatch a month later and now wouldn't be without this combo. Ironically, I bought both products 18 months after launch. This'll be my setup for the next 4 years I think!

5.0 out of 5 stars Important info for camera reliant purchasers.

I love this phone and it was such an upgrade from what I had. However I do feel the need to mention some of the issues I've experienced.

1. I obviously put the phone in a case and a screen protector, but the screen protector makes finger print access almost impossible. I even tried reregistering my fingerprints with the phone once the cover was already on and still it won't read them and sometimes even locks me out of my apps. Huge pain, but i did just disable it and got over it. Using other security methods.. But someone who really wanted it won't be able to use a screen protector and risk ruining the screen.

2. My next issue may be also be because of the screen protector but even despite contacting Samsung, they can't confirm or deny the connection. Outfacing photos are amazing but when you try to take selfies with the inward facing camera they appear foggy and super low quality. Almost filtered. I theorised this may be because my screen protector goes over top of the camera to obviously protect it, but i think its possible it's distorting the quality of photos. I bought the correct screen protector for the phone, so if they knew it distorted photos, you'd think they'd make the screen protector that doesn't cover the camera? Its an unfortunate let down and I'm still figuring it out. The unusual park it, when using an app like Snapchat then using the actual built in camera app, the quality of the photos are always different, even though I was using the same inward facing camera. Sometimes Snapchat pics will be clearer, while the inapp pics will be horrible. Then other times, its the opposite. It doesn't make sense, and the Samsung employee I spoke to said he owns the regular 10 and his photos sometimes also come out blurry using no screen protector.. which makes me believe its a software issue.. or? Idk. Just be aware.

Because I bought the phone to help support my job, using the camera and calling features, it was why I purchased the phone.

I still love the phone, but considering how much I paid, you'd think it'd provide more consistent top quality photos and take the manufacturer would of took into account people are obviously gonna use screen protectors.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Note 8 upgrade, terrible bokeh, slow, unreliable fingerprint reader

PRODUCT
Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ (Note 10 Plus), SM-N970F dual-SIM, European factory unlocked, SIM-free model

SUMMARY
This review is based on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (dual sim), iPhone 11 Pro Max and OnePlus 7T Pro, and if I could have replaced the 2 year old worn battery and there would have not been a dead pixel, I would have happily waited until the Note 11 or even 12.
If you are looking for the best camera in the market, the iPhone Pro has by a very long margin the best front and selfie cameras - or at least the software optimisation is way ahead of both Samsung, OnePlus, Google and even Huawei.

The only reason why I didn't buy the above iPhone is because of the outdated Lightning port (resulting in expensive accessories and ewaste) and the need to install iTunes on my Windows 10 laptop. The switch from Note 4 to Note 8 was much more satisfying (3 year difference).

PRICE & DATE
680GBP, 2nd hand good as new on Amazon UK on 28 Dec 2018
Released Aug 2019

PROs
+ 6.8" high end screen is more squared than before and rounded edges are slightly thinner, leaving more flat surface
+ 40% longer battery life and Note 8 (it felt like 80% longer battery life because my Note 8's battery aged poorly)
+ Feels around 50% faster than Note 8
+ Finally true dual SIM where both cards have LTE 4G instead of master and slave
+ Switching from maximum resolution to lowest has hardly a visual difference, but improved battery life by around 4 hours!
+ Improved speakers are now good with stereo, but not great
+ Samsung Dex via app can be useful, but USB transfer speeds are terribly low despite USB 3.1 standard
+ Stylus still has some usefulness when drawing willies and navigating non-mobile friendly websites with drop-down menus
+ Fast face unlock (albeit not quite as snappy as iPhones)

CONs
- Frustratingly unteliable fingerprint reader with very low accuracy, tiny surface and terrible results when your fingers are dry or too wet
- Alternative "Face Unlock" does not register masks which add additional inconvenience during the new normal of a Covid world
- Very expensive for what little extra value it offers over the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (S10 Plus) of S10 5G version
- Software rendered bokeh (artificial foreground & background blurring) terrible and completely unnatural compared to iPhone 11 Pro (Max). Especially "Live Focus" selfies look horrendous with strangely cut hair
- Rounded edges are a nightmare for display protection foils and leave large areas unprotected, and there is an ugly shadow effect when you look at the edges of the rounded screens
- 3 front cameras produce different colours of the same scene, are poorly calibrated and too cold
- Battery life around 2h shorter than iPhone 11 Pro Max
- Fingerprint sensor very unreliable (worse when your fingers are dry), the surface area is too small, and it is a lot slower than the OnePlus equivalents. I would say it has a success rate of 20%, and you really have to press hard for it to work which cannot be good for the phone in the long term.
- Sorting, Windows-like file management and backing up nearly impossible because file names are not fully displayed
- Stylus shorter than Note 8
- Bixby (absolute garbage feature) cannot be deleted
- Bloatware that cannot be deleted such as Microsoft OneDrive, Facebook and Netflix
- 512GB version not available in the UK
- 1TB version not available
- 45 Watt charger only 10% faster than included 25 Watt charger, but it costs another 50GBP
- USB transfer speeds are shockingly low. USB C via original 3.1 transfer cable or Anker still takes 8 hours when you copy 5000+ smaller files (approx. 10GB) such as WhatsApp and photos from your laptop to your Note 10
- Only 60Hz screen
- The screen is no longer symmetrical, and the bottom bezel is thicker than the top
- You cannot add 3 face unlock profiles (1x normal, 1x with glasses, 1x with pollution mask during commute)
- No more irus scanner

IDEA
I would not miss the pen if instead they increased the battery to 5500mAh+ so that it could last 2 full days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant Renewed Phone
Reviewed in the United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ on June 29, 2021

My review is more about the renewed condition as anyone who wants to purchase this phone would already have done their research. Everything about this renewed phone is amazing. It works as it should, battery life is great I would highly recommend purchasing from Mazuma, the phone was in pristine condition as if it were brand new there was not a single scratch on it. The phone also came in a lovely well padded presentation box, with a robot shaped case for charger, cable and sim tool. Glad I didn't purchase brand new as you cannot tell the difference. There are some reviewers complaining there are no headphones with the phone. This is a renewed phone so obviously headphones won't be included and there is no headphone jack in this model, so Bluetooth headphones are recommended or headphones with a C connector. The difference is clear between the phone purchased from Mazuma and the one I purchased from a different seller. I tried to add photos but was unable to for some unknown reason I will keep trying and add them later if possible. I am very pleased with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best phone on the market
Reviewed in the United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ on September 4, 2019
Color: Aura BlackSize: 256GBVerified Purchase
Pros:

* Blazing fast performance
* Amazing 6.8" AMOLED screen, the best display on the market
* 25W fast charge, though you need to use the bundled charging brick else you'll get 15W as before
* Fast wireless charge
* Supports "reverse wireless charge" so you can use your phone to wirelessly charge your watch or Galaxy Buds (or other phones)
* S-Pen now doubles as a camera shutter
* 256GB of onboard storage as standard
* microSDXC memory card slot, so no need to buy the more expensive 512GB version
* Under-screen ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is much better than the one on the S8/S9/etc.
* Very unintrusive camera cutout - blends into the notification pane and you'll stop noticing it after a day of use
* Dual-SIM (though you can't use a 2nd SIM and microSD card at the same time)
* 12GB of RAM as standard, so very future-proof
* Amazing image stabilisation on the front camera at 4K
* Very loud and high quality dual speakers
* Quite important but overlooked: there are hundreds of cheap cases, skins and other accessories to choose from

Cons:

* No headphone jack - this is inexcusable
* Expensive as hell - Β£1000 is painful, though compared to the new iPhone this will look like a bargain
* Only two colour options in the UK. Aura Black and Aura Glow (aka "shiny CD") aren't enough - why isn't the red version sold here?
* No pre-order bonuses. Samsung are getting stingy
* Like most modern flagships, this is a fragile glass device and needs a case

Overall:

* The best phone on the market
* The phone for people who want it all
* On balance, worth the money

Just make sure you buy a case for this Β£1000 phone...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Computer in your hands
Reviewed in the United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ on January 16, 2020

Have to say I'm very impressed with it it's an excellent phone. I was going to buy the Rog phone 2 but im glad I didn't because this has more than enough power for gaming.

Mobile specs aren't really a contentious issue because quite often games don't take up that much memory on mobile (RAM).

PLEASE NOTE (Pardon the pun):

if you buy this and you see a flickering dot when calling it's worth noting that's the proximity sensor as I thought it was a dead pixel or something.

TPU screen protectors are just as good although they don't provide super protection I'm using TPU now and it's fine.

So positives:

β–  Features are incredible so many features
β–‘ The screen is mind blowing
β–  The price is cheap on here compared to OR
β–‘ Size is big without being overly big
β–  Computer capabilities and connectivity

Negatives:

● The compatibility of glass screen protectors is hindered as the finger print scanner gets obstructed
β—‹ Screen replacement costs around 270 GBP (16/01/20)

CONCLUSION:

Dont be put of the ineffective screen protection as there are alternatives and I reccomend this phone wholeheartedly!

1.0 out of 5 stars Great, whilst it worked. Not worth Β£600 for <3 months use

Cannot recommend this at all.
Seemed brilliant when it was working, stylus a novelty at first but soon using it all the time. Colour looked amazing and phone is very thin.
Fingerprint reader a lot more temperamental than others I've had, also screen protectors either had to have a hole cutout of them, or were rubbish bits of vinyl that didn't really protect it at all.
Anyway, on to why I gave this 1 star. The screen just started flashing white on the lower half randomly, then everytime when charging or on low brightness, then all the time eventually leading to a totally black screen and unusable phone after less than 3 months usage.
I had not dropped or damaged it in any way, always used cases and screen protectors and found that I was babying the device a lot more anyway due to the curved screen edges...so why on earth did it break?!?
Went to Samsung to get it repaired under warranty, 'no repairs able to be booked online' due to staff shortages.
So then, tried to get Amazon to repair it, sent it off in the post and post sent it back to me because Amazon's repair label was dodgy. Contacted them again to get a new one, then ended up in full lockdown unable to get to post office- was advised by Amazon to ask them again once out of lockdown, 'no problem at all'. Did as requested only to be told the repair was locked out of the system so I could no longer send it for repair.
Cue contacting Samsung a second time, where they have claimed they would pick it up for delivery twice and after much back and forth have yet to do so. So I am currently stuck with a Β£600 shiny piece of junk. Avoid at all costs, and think twice about going for other Samsung devices!!!!

Great item at very good price. Super storage at 256GB Extra storage can be added by memory card. 12GB ram which is super fast. The amould display is absolutely gorgeous, this phone can do so much and also has a fantastic s pen. It may not be the latest smart phone but you will not find a better phone in terms of value for money and features. I highly recommend this phone.
