Torn…. That’s what Tony (Ace) and Cam (Red) are in this story. So many things can go wrong when you fall in love with a mobster. So many things do go wrong in both of their lives. This book held my interest in the happenings. It didn’t disappoint. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romantic suspense.

This novella was a quick read. Never a dull moment, even while Tony aka Ace was waiting, hoping for Cam aka Red to return. Then after THE call..... Whoa. When all was revealed... POW. Excellent short story, highly recommended.

I'm a sucker for a good short story. Something to take me away to a different time and place and Ricochet did just that. Red and Tony had the chemistry, the banter, and the action that I enjoy in a story. Quick read at just under an hour, but well worth every penny of my money. Allyn proves that longer isn't always better, and concise writing will win my heart every time. I give it 4.5 stars, heart and gut wrenching stars.

This is a fast paced book. I really wish this was a full length book. There was so much that I wish I knew but didn't. That's my problem with novellas. But, overall I did like it.

Tony AKA Ace was an enforcer for a mob with the hope of moving up. Until Tony does a job that leaves him where he can't look at himself in the mirror. Now, he's retired. That is unless they call him because they have a job to do.

The minute Tony sees the new bartender he knows he must get to know her better. Except Cam AKA Red doesn't want to get to know him. Unless it's in the bedroom then she'll pay attention to him. Red is feisty, blunt and holds no punches. There is definitely something about her that seems familiar to him. But, he can't quite put his finger on what it is. Before he can he gets a phone call. His bosses need Ace or else they're all in trouble. Unfortunately, Tony already is.

I really liked this book. Cam and Tony were both strong, dangerously sexy and powerful people. Their chemistry was hot hot hot in and out of the bedroom. If their past wasn't what it was then maybe their relationship could've started off on a different foot. I wish I could've gotten their stories from their pasts. I wish we got Tony's story from Ace up until the beginning of this story. I'd also love to know Cam's story as well. I have SO many questions about her to write about lol. But, overall this was a good book!

“In another lifetime, in another place, I’d make you mine, Red"

This is the first book I read of Allyn, and really enjoyed it. It's a short, mysterious and sexy book.
Toni is the one who puts the touch of mystery to the whole reading, with a past he'd rather forget. Red is a sexy girl looking for revenge at any cost.

“I dominate.” Always, she thought, but kept that to herself. “You’ll submit to me, little girl.”

At first I was difficult to get used to the style of writing. The narrative is in third person and sometimes it's a little hard for me to connect with the characters and their story (it's a completely personal preference).
But the story of Tony and Red made me forget that little detail. The attraction between them is real, and I could see the connection that both had. I was surprised by the small twists that take the book near the end.

"Tony, let’s make this our lifetime.” Tears blinded her sight. She was tired and drained.
All the fight left her spirit. “Please.” She could at least try. “Tony...”
"I thought you’d never ask.”

I wish that his story was longer I think the characters have great potential, but I'm happy I was able to read the work of a new writer.

This is a novelette, a short, fast-paced read that is a book for fans of mafia/suspense romance. The prologue packs a brutal and poignant punch from the past before it jumps years into the future.

Tony is a man who has tried to escape the family legacy he promised his life and honour to. He's done some pretty nasty things but he has changed. He seems to want more out of his life and he's living a life of honesty and simplicity. Red is a new bartender on the island and they have immediate chemistry despite their 20 year age difference. Red and Tony seem to be on different pages in terms of what they want from one another. As this was a short read, everything happens fairly quickly, both the story development and the relationships. The final 25% of the book lacked tangible credibility in terms of the story and outcome. I preferred the first half of the read. The description is graphic in terms of violence.

A copy of this book was provided by the author.

ricochet is a quick but definitely not an easy read thanks to the mystery and suspense that makes it more interesting. The killings were brutal but not the way you’re probably thinking. Just look at it this way: I don’t really read much romance-suspense so to say that it’s brutal was already too much for my taste. But maybe not for yours. And they’re not even written explicitly. But they’re there and it adds up to the suspense feel of the story.

ricochet is about Tony and Cam who came from the same world but not for the same reason. That same world revolved around murder and underground, dirty business. What makes ricochet interesting is that you can’t really tell what’s going to happen next. Who’s going to die next, who’s going to come up next. It’s a constant edgy feeling that will keep you flipping through the next page. And with that ending? Oh. My. Gosh. I didn’t even see it coming! Get ready to be a bit mindf*cked!
