I like having the inner cover on this case removable from the outer cover. It allows me to hold the Paperwhite without the added weight of the outer cover and still have some protection and good grip. However, because this case is not made exclusively for the Paperwhite, it has cutouts on the side that allow Kindle 4 users to access their controls but that means it gives less leather protection for Paperwhite owners. The sides of the device are partially exposed even enclosed in the outer case.
This product is worth every bit of what I paid, especially comparing it to the Finti Folio book style case. The Fintie leaves the Paperwhite side heavy and the cover side featherlight, thus making it unbalanced and difficult to hold while reading. When the cover on the Fintie Folio case is wrapped back, the sleep/awake feature sometimes turns the Paperwhite off when reading. I do not have any of those issues with the roocase.
If this case was designed specifically for the Paperwhite, I am sure that the inner cover would have more protection on the sides than it currently does which is why I knocked off one star. If you want something of lighter weight and don't mind faux leather than you might want to consider the Pandamimi PU Leather Flip Cover case sold by Amazon I would have bought that if I had not found this roocase first.
I am returning this case because the Paperwhite is a very snug fit, in fact to difficult to pull out of the case. The width of the case is the exact measurement as the width for Paperwhite. The only reason you can push it into the case is because the added depth accommodates. This was clearly not designed for the Paperwhite and is not a good fit for it. It seems that Amazon is running out of cases that will provide vertical/portrait stand viewing. Hopefully more will become available in the future.
I definitely wanted my case:
1) to be able to stand on a table so that I could read in that manner
2) protection in case I drop it
3) to be light weight for reading one-handed in bed
4) to be able to easily access on/off button & charging port
5) good quality & value
This case met all of my expectations!!
If It does become a little bit heavy to hold, I can EASILY take the outside part of the case off and Velcro it back on whenever I want. My wrists are arthritic so that may happen, but so far it doesn't seem too heavy.
The leather seems a good quality. There is no odor as there is with faux leather cases (a big plus).
I am very happy with it. What a great value !
The "holder" itself requires a lot of pushing and pulling of the Kindle Paperwhite to seat it properly. It's in so snugly, it looks like it's about to tear the seams apart.
The easel reading setup worked fine, but any accidental bump against the case from anywhere except the front (and sometimes even then!) knocked it out of its slot and off the angle I had set. The easel part doesn't work on anything but a flat, motionless surface.
When I folded the case up for transport, it was a little tricky figuring out which part went where. I had bought a slim pen-sized stylus to use with my Kindle, but there was nowhere to carry it in the case when it was folded up; it just wouldn't fit!
The low cost of the rooCASE Multiple View does not make it worth the bother of sending back for a refund.
