Being a pastor, I appreciated the story of Nicholas as a Christian prime mover for Christ during his lifetime.
I wish I would have had "The Santa Papers" when my children were small!
This book is a brief (35 pp.) expose on the truth of the "Santa" myth, tied intimately with the truth of St. Nicholas of Myra. In this story, author Wally Metts, Jr. gives us the "facts" of who the actual saint was, and a very plausible storyline as to how the truth became tall tale. The beauty of this book is that it is written in readable form, easily understood and interesting to read. It's understandable progression gives the reader the "who's" and the "why's" of the Santa story, and gives the true Bishop of Myra his due for a life well lived for God.
I thoroughly enjoyed "The Santa Papers," and while my children are mostly grown, grandchildren are sure to follow someday! I guarantee this delightful book will become a part of our Christmas tradition with them, and I look forward to integrating the "true" story of St. Nicholas into their lives.
All in all I like The Santa Papers very much. It told St. Nick's story well but left me with a desire to learn more about this fascinating man. I think that's the mark of a story well told and a life well lived.
