sb5101 vs sb5101u I am looking to purchase a Motorola SB5100 that my cable company lists as a compatible cable modem. What is the difference in the sb5100 and sb5100u?

It seems as if the SB5101U has an Optional 1.1 USB data port available. That may be the only difference between the two. I just bought one from Best Buy yesterday and if works just the same. It was a replacement for my old and broken SB5101, which was made approximately on Dec 23, 2004. (I took it apart and looked at the circuit board. Part number - 512841-003). I like to take apart broken electronics to see how they work.

I bought the SB5101U from wallmart, it's about $20.00 cheaper than SB5101, it work just fine, the omly difference I see is the SB5101 has a stand by botton on top of unit, the SB5101U dose not

The SB5101 and SB5101U ARE different modems. The U edition is a revision of the 5101 series. It has different hardware, stripped down, and is not compatible currently with most ISPs in the US. I highly recommend going with the SB5101 instead.

Does NOT work with my Comcast! Not sure if it's incompatible or just broken.+

I'm having the same question. Any 5101U users can verify it also works?
