In this short story you perfectly notice the differences (that you know, but many times you forget) between the country where you live and other countries, you get another perspective of their problems and, most of all, realize that depends where you were born your life can be the best or the worst of the world. After reading "On the seashore" I have been conscious about how lucky we are living in a country like this; and particularly as a woman, in a culture that respect us and let us the freedom to do what we want and to live with no worry or fear about some of our realities.
I have finished the story with tears in my face thanking about everything around me. Next time I see the news about this kind of countries I'll remember this story to empathize with these people and to help as I can.
Congratulations to the writer, only a person with a great sensitivity can make you feel those different sensations and touch your spirit and soul with his words!!
I recommend this reading to all the people!!
Elisa, writer and dreamer
The author is clearly a non-native English speaker. His writing is unconventional; his style and use of language are challenging in that they are sometimes ungrammatical and often feel a little alien. However, these very aspects add depth and credibility to the narrator’s voice and memories.
I have given this story 4 stars because it is a brave piece of writing that turns the spotlight on uncomfortable truths about the brutal world we live in, and yet it ends on a positive note of solace that remains true to the narrator’s character and reflects the indomitable resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity and loss, without being saccharine. I would recommend that you buy ‘On the Seashore’. It is well worth the purchase price!
