On July 20, 2012, static cling "shield" design decal stickers peeled off easily from its backing material and stuck nicely to the inside of the window glass & could easily be re-positioned and straightened.
Plastic security signs were 1/4" thick, fairly rigid & solid. The ink/printing on the signs look OK (bright and noticible now), but longevity is a question (what can you expect considering what you pay). On July 22, 2012, bought two 3' high manufacturer pre-painted (enamel-baked) steel sign posts with pre-drilled holes (@ $2.88 each) at a home improvement store, drilled holes in the plastic signs, attached to the sign posts w/screws and placed signs in the front and back of the property. Looks quite "professionally installed".
If, as some reviewers mentioned, posts were desired to be included with this item, the price of the item would be quite a bit more, esp if you consider the cost of the two posts and the added shipping weight/size of heavier post(s). I believe it is better, cheaper and more efficient to get exactly the kind of post (type of material and height) you want/need at a hardware store. It may cost you a trip to the store, the cost of the posts themselves, and the time/labor to attach the signs, but it is preferable to getting unsatisfactory posts via the mail, grumbling and having to return it, then having to go out and get something else anyway.
The only question I have is how long the stickers and signs will last without fading (no one can know whether it has or will have actually deterred burglars). So I (only) gave 4 stars due to this fading uncertainty. Alarm6 product description says "3 year no fade warranty." We'll see. Having found that Amazon allows us purchaser-reviewers to subsequently amend our feedback (to say whether these stickers and signs actually do last that long w/o fading), I do so below.
Dec. 5, 2012 - it is about 5 months later, and I am happy to report that both the stickers and signs HAVE NOT FADED and especially the signs still look quite new. The stickers look a bit more deeper red in color, but is readable and not faded. Hope this trend continues. Will report back in about a year.
April 5, 2013 - the plastic outdoor signs still look brand new (the paint on the posts holding it have faded though) and my window stickers have turned blood red in color, but have not faded and are still very readable.
Jan. 31, 2014 - the plastic outdoor 9"x9" sign at the front of the property has become quite faded -- not surprising since it faces and is subject to direct sunlight from dawn to dusk. It is still readable though it looks like it is more than 5 years old. The other sign in the back of the property, which is not subject to direct sunlight at all, is still looking quite new. Therefore, the conclusion one may draw is that IF THE 9"x9" SIGN IS GOING TO BE FACING CONSTANT, DIRECT SUNLIGHT, IT WILL NOT MEET THE 3-YEAR NON-FADE WARRANTY (here installed July 22, 2012). The sign will fade in about a year and a half -- if even that long. My window stickers are still good, although as mentioned above, they have turned blood red in color, but have not faded and are still very readable -- almost like on the first day I put it up. So now we all know the answer to my question in the title -- not if the 9"x9" sign is in constant direct sunlight. Next question is: if the seller is still viable, will they honor their warranty? - although is it worth it to try and get a replacement or refund for one sign, and what can you really expect considering what you paid for the item.... Up to this point, taking everything into consideration, I would still give the product(s) 4 stars. Now we'll have to see how long the window stickers will last before fading or becoming unreadable.... Plan to provide an update later.
May, 2014 - Since my 9"x9" sign at the front of our house had faded quite a bit, I contacted the seller to see whether they would honor their 3-year warranty. I was very pleased to find that they(he) did, and he sent me a replacement sign on June 7, 2014. Nice to see that there are sellers with this kind of integrity.
March 11, 2015 - So, bottom line is if you leave the 9"x9" signs in a "full sun" area, i.e. where there is no shade and the sign is constantly facing and exposed to the sun from dawn to dusk, the sign will fade in about 1-1/2 years, losing about 75% of its color and "brightness". It will still be "readable" from a distance of 10-15 feet, but may look "neglected" and may cause people to think that the same is true for any alarm system you have installed (i.e. maybe no longer working). The window stickers are still fine, although looking "bloody red". Also, although some homes in our area have experienced break-ins, so far we are OK (cross our fingers - maybe it's also because someone is home most of he time) - so there may have been some "deterrent" effect of the signs.
The seller shipped quickly, professionally, and all parts arrived completely undamaged. Would buy again.
