ric hordinski's latest all instrumental release integrates his love of ambient eno-esque textures , avant-garde sound techniques and beautiful spacious melodies into a truly satisfying yet challenging work. the 2007 release features the textural hallmarks that made hordinski a cult figure but expands far beyond any of his previous releases. the contributions from electronica guru Tony Miracle or Venus Hum and ric's long time partner, the amazing (if understated) Joshua Seurkamp, bring this CD to the forefront of Avant-Guitar without compromising the traditional beauty hordinski is known for. He's a guitarist's guitarist, but he never panders to the musicians in the crowd. one reviewer has said "he's the rarest kind of virtuoso- the kind who knows when NOT to play." never has that been more true then on "silence." tracks like Northern Lights grow with a Bolero-like intensity while some "like The Sparrow," have an almost symphonic feeling to them.

Sonically, this album is a masterpiece. It took a few listens to understand a full meaning to the album, but it was a pleasurable experience. A talented guitarist and and even better composer
