A
A dial up or DSL/cable connection to the internet is only required for downloading new firmware for the HD Homerun. It can be used without connecting to the internet if you are able to hook it up to your wired ethernet home network. It will not work over wireless WiFi network due to greater bandwidth requirement for watching HD channels.
