What I like:
The looks of the bike, looks amazing.
How the bike was packaged looks like it protected it from damage.
Bikes not so heavy, seat pad has a lot of cushion.
Man, The build though was rough!
I got the seven speed and the instructions didn’t exactly match what I needed to do. When I was checking for parts I didn’t know the hardware was already preinstalled in the bike, the instructions stated they were in box #3, and I emailed the company thought I was missing parts.
I couldn’t get my front reflector on because the screw was stuck. Looks like they were forced in by machine. (I still need to find out how I can get it on.)
Part list said I had a rear reflector but didn’t receive one ( unless the back rack reflector is the rear reflector)
I had to figure some things out myself outside the directions. I couldn’t put the front wheel on first because the brakes were in the way. I took the brake pads off to do step one.
Even putting in the handle bar was a challenge, the orientation of the brake and shifter on the handles were pointing in the wrong direction. So i had to flip them over with force and using some of the Allen wrench provided.
Some of the Allen screw holes are stripped, so they don’t exactly fit.
It would be helpful if you have your own tools. Its my fist time assembly a bike and it was a large learning curve, even with the instructions.
However I have a lot of complaints about it. Both inner tubes don't work. One leaks to flat in about 6 to 8 hours, the other one leaks to flat in about a day.
The break pads were not sanded down at all and make the loudest squeaking noise ever.
The instructions to assemble had the wrong bike on it which left me to wonder what to do with certain parts.
The break bars rattle as your ride and squeek when you press them.
The peddling makes a constant clicking noise, the gears don't always change and sometimes change by themselves.
I'm so disappointed in this bike but returning it would be such an inconvenience. Taking it all apart and packiging it up then fitting that box in the car would be a huge pain.
I took it to a bike shop already to have them see if what can be done, they said a lot of the parts look like they were left in storage in hot temperatures and have degraded. To fix a lot of the issues mentioned above I'd have to pay for a lot of new parts.
So it looks pretty, but it is sub par at best.
The bike also has very loud, squealing brakes and needed adjusting for the gear shifting mechanism (the chain tends to click a lot in lower gears). I was willing to overlook these as they can be fixed (and the manufacturer offered to pay for repairs), but the problems with the frame cannot be overlooked.
The women's version of this bike is fantastic. I purchased and built one for my wife at the same time and she loves it. No problems whatsoever, and is very quiet. The women's frame only has one bar. So I plan to try out a different men's model from this company that doesn't have the small bars in the frame (the EVRYjourney).
However, I have to take it to a bike repair shop because the front wheel is slightly bent (it is noticeable by wobbling of the front brakes) and all brakes are squeaking horribly. It is not a big deal and should cost around $20 to fix, but still, you don't want to expect this from the brand new bike.
Another issue to be aware of. A bike comes 85% assembled. The assembly instruction is made for a complete assembly, from A to Z. And whereas the remaining 15% of the assembly is more or less self-explanatory, those instructions caused confusion and are almost useless, if not counterproductive.
BTW, be aware of not dropping the seat post into a bike's frame - it is challenging to get it out. I had to not only flip the bike and shake it, but needed to knock continuously on the frame to force the seat post fall out. And to install the front wheel you would need to replace one of the front brakes. Finally, the list of parts mentions the hardware (probably box #1), but it is missing because this hardware is preinstalled.
