The version I received was a knock off from China First of all, the package arrived completely smashed! When we started playing, we realized there are a ton of misspelled words, duplicate cards and a crap ton of phrases that don't make any sense. Don't waste your money on this game! I bought this game for my 9-year-old son. While it was fun to play, we seemed to be able to hang all the pieces. One day I happened to be at a thrift store and there was a set for sale - so I bought it. I am so glad I did - this game is way more fun with more pieces. While we did discover that you could make the base twice as high with the second set - the weight caused it to topple over. So if you do buy two sets, just use the regular sized base and all of the squiggly pieces. My 5-year old likes playing it by himself and getting all the pieces to balance symmetrically (I should have taken a picture, as it was pretty cool).(2,584) -

Amazingly fun game. My parents thought it would be too easy, they were both tripped up on thie first cards. If I could make one suggestion to the game makes, it would be expansion packs needed to keep it fresh and fun.(1,458) -

We love family games. My daughter loves games that are word oriented. My husband loves games that are not long and easy to learn to play. This game makes all of us happy.
Essentially you are trying to find the word (or phrase)in your hand that best matches the word or phrase on the played card. The person who gets to judge the phrases or words suitability rotates through the players. You play five rounds and then the person who has had the most winning plays wins.
Part of what makes this fun is the table banter, getting to know the other players through the words and phrases they pick to play or pick to win each round. The other part of what makes this fun are the crazy little phrases or quotes on each of the cards.

This game is fantastic. I've spent many nights playing this game with my family and sometimes it can get pretty vicious. If you are looking for a pretty easy to learn, family game, you cannot go wrong with Rummikub. I would recommend a small cloth bag to use to mix the chips when you draw as well.(1,683) -

I love love LOVE this game. It's a classic deck-building game, meaning that you start out with, essentially, "money" in your hand, and use that to purchase more powerful cards to add to your deck as the game progresses. You then use these cards to heal you and your teammates, attack enemies, and purchase even more powerful cards. If you're familiar with deck building games like Dominion and Star Realms, you'll likely be able to pick this up pretty quickly. The great thing is that it's fully cooperative, so it's you and the other players working together to defeat the game instead of fighting each other, so it's not difficult to lead new players through it. I just wouldn't recommend this for your grade-schooler. It says "Harry Potter," but It's pretty involved and get steadily more complicated and difficult as the game progresses, though ... full review(250) -

Hive struck me like a fresh new concept in tabletop gaming when I first ran into it at the manufacturer's own website. There, you could play the game against a robot that they said wasn't all that good a player. He taught me so much, beating me 15 consecutive times before I finally beat him.
Hive has tiles with special movement rules, like chess, but there is no "board". The first tile played in the game initiates "The Hive", and all subsequent play takes place on, or adjacent to, The Hive. The tiles depict bugs, and both players get a queen bee, 2 spiders, 2 beetles, 3 grasshoppers, and 3 ants. An expansion set gives each player a mosquito too.

Love this game! My 5 and 6 year old grandsons are playing it too and are surprisingly good at it. The 5 year old still needs help but the 6 year old has asked that I no longer check his hand to see if he is missing anything. It is a great vehicle to teach flexibility as your plan can change each time you have a turn. Each hand is fairly quick and these two young guys have actually played the entire 11 hands several times in the month we've had the game. Each hand has a different "wild" card and they have caught on to that very quickly. They like to sit to my left because Nana has a tendency to throw away wild cards! SET is a great game! It's a good group game, as there isn't a specific number of players required, and one person can enjoy it as a solitaire game. SET doesn't take long to learn, but it remains challenging forever!
Color is a major part of this game. I'm colorblind, but there are ways to mark the cards and enjoy SET along with everybody else.(1,182) -

In order to enjoy this game do not compare it to the original one. My kids (ages 6 and 9) love this game. They love a lot of the newer aspects like the different careers, the night school option to get a new career and the family path that gives more opportunities for having babies. The action cards are fun because some of them have start family conversation which is fun. One says "You started a band" (you either earn some money or have to pay for starting the band I forgot) and then it says what instruments does everyone play? Those questions just add to the fun. There are only a couple cons in my opinion. I am sad it is only 4 players and not 6. If you choose not to go to college you are probably not going to win. The ... full review(935) -

Pictionary is a class game that friends and family of mine have enjoyed for many years. This review is more about this version then the game itself. The game is definitely 5 star but this version gets 4. What I do like is the reusable drawing pad idea and the cards that allow children to enjoy the game. The box layout is nice, giving everything a spot to fit in. The pencil player pieces are a clever touch (give that designer a raise).
Now for what I'm not impressed with. The drawing cards are 6" x 4" which is too small (the box is 10.25" square so room is not an issue) and they are made from cheap cardboard with a shiny finish making it difficult to wipe clean and it never really gets 100%. Would two dry erase boards cost too much to include? I don't think so. ... full review(164) -

This is a wonderful game! If you like Scrabble, this is for you! (Okay, I know I sound like the creator here! But it's a thoroughly enjoyable game.) If you know "Phase 10" and Scrabble, this is their offspring! Tthe nice part is that at the onset, you can decide how many rounds you'll play, so you're not stuck playing forever and the game is finished. BTW, we cheat when we play it, as we want to learn as many words as possible, so we allow the use of smart phones to look up words. (We'd NEVER do that for Scrabble!!) My daughter has always talked about doing Math 24 in class, it is fun, she loves the challenge. Math 24 is a wonderful math challenge. I wanted her to have the cards at home to be able to practice. Right after she got them she was excited to tell me that she made it as an alternate for the county competition. If I had gotten her the cards sooner, she may have made the team as more than just an alternate.(157)
