My family loves these games - even our 12yo son :-) Fun way to learn history and we nearly always go off on rabbit trails to learn more about some event, invention or discovery in the game. Great for our homeschool history goals :-) We have several of the themes and will continue to add to our collection. :-)(86) -

I bought this because it looked like a good game to play with my girlfriend. Who knew her little brother, 8, would like it, she would love it, my casual gaming group call for it by name, and my hard core gaming group clamored enough that I bought the other 3 expansions.
Though this is technically the second expansion of the base game, the Historical Events deck is the best introductory deck, followed by the original Timeline : Inventions deck. The 2nd deck, Discoveries, gets the most complaints from my casual group (lots of MBAs and doctorates in this group) due to dates, but all 3 current games are good and I've pre ordered the 4th.(183) -
"Loads of fun for all ages!" - By Pamela (Oregon)
We played this twice: once with my young niece and nephew and their grandparents and once with my in laws. Both times we had a ton of fun, so don't think this is a game only for kids. The box says 8 and up, but my seven year old niece and five year old nephew both played pretty well with a little help from the grown ups.
The basic premise is to put events (in this case, inventions) in chronological order. Some are easy, particularly when you're first starting your round and have lots of leeway in your timeline. Once the game advances, though, finding the right spot on the timeline gets much more complicated. The game is really interesting to history buffs, but even my mother-in-law, who hated history classes, had fun trying to figure out what was invented when.
Each round of the game took around ... full review(268) -

List Price: $14.99 Price: $9.36 You Save: $5.63 (38%) "Fun for history buffs" - By Marie S. Kingston (New York)
I bought this game along with the original Timeline and Timeline Historical Events, card games to use with my history students. What I found is that it's a fun game for adults and for kids. They can be used as a teaching tool or as a refresher course, depending on the players age.
Keep in mind that the cards are smaller than an average Post-it note and sometimes the writing can be a bit hard to read.
The back of the cards have the year, so there is no looking up the answer in a booklet.
I highly recommends this game to anybody who has even a passing interest in history, technology, or is looking for a quick card game for a road trip.(108) -
"Simple betting game, but lots of fun for 6 people!" - By Rubane
Friend brought this to board game night. This is a betting game that's simple to learn and requires a bit of luck and strategy to win. We had 6 people, which I think is a good number to play with. The product is frequently in/out of stock for some reason depending on who has it available (our friend said it was out of print and he had to order from UK so happy it was on amazon!). You basically get three coasters per player -- they are obviously popped out of a larger sheet. The pieces are really simple so you COULD make your own set, but the art is gorgeous. As noted, there is no protective film or coating on the coasters so they will get wear and tear, but we felt that was part of the charm. As folks noted, folks COULD mark the pieces so they can ... full review(67) -

this game is so much fun! can't believe they made a waterproof version..now we can have fun in the pool, hot tub, beach...any watery venue will be infinitely funner :P (yup I used funner). just know that they are laminated for waterproofing, so when light hits it...it can get a glare and you can't see the images and end up losing ): haha(142) -
"An excellent addition to my family board game collection!" - By N. Beitler (Aurora, IL United States)
Our family plays a lot of games. We have a game night about every other weekend, and with three young kids, we try to find games that everyone can play together. What does that mean? In short, I try to purchase games that:
1. Are fun to play.
2. Are easy to learn.
3. Can accommodate at least five players,
4. Have a lot of replay value.
Jamaica fits all of these criteria. Although it is a newer game and is still establishing a name for itself, I am certain that it will become a widely popular game at some point in the future.
The premise of the game is that of a pirate race around a topical island. Each player takes one of the six available pirate characters (who are actually based on authentic historical figures!) and sets out with a meager supply of gold and ... full review(170) -
"Fun Pirate game!" - By Neil
Really fun, lighter family game, with enough strategy to keep it interesting. The game mechanics are pretty simple to learn. The artwork is really great, with an animated/cartoon feel to it. The ships are three dimensional and very nice to look at. Overall good quality components. Highly recommended for folks who like games like Ticket to Ride or similar, lighter games. And it has pirates!(54) -

Great addition to the game! This makes the game even more interesting and expanding. If you like Seven Wonders, get all the expansion sets, starting with Leaders. Don't buy them all at the same time though. That would be a little overwhelming. Spread the three sets out over several months so you can master each set of new rules. Each expansion, by itself is easy and interesting. The designers of this game knew what they were doing, and did it right. None of the expansions will disappoint you!(127) -

"Award Winner was an Immediate Hit" - By MamaGames (United States)
We recently picked up the 2015 Spiel des Jahres winner, Colt Express.. and it was an immediate hit in our house.
We are a family of board game fans - Mom, Dad, 13 year old son, 9 year old daughter. We try to play at least one game every day, usually after dinner as our family time. Colt Express (like all of the Spiel des Jahres winners) is a great fit.
We like the sometimes-blind card programming mechanic: you take turns playing the card for the action you want to do into a pile in the middle of the table, and only after the whole round is programmed do you get to take turns doing those cards. Very often, this results in you having to do something unplanned or unwanted because someone else's action changes where you are, where the loot is, or where the ... full review(104) -
"Spot It" - By Maxwell's Mom
I teach preschool and thought it would be another means to help my students recognize numbers and shapes. The children enjoy the game and ask to play it. It is colorful and keeps the children interested. I recommend this highly.(153)
