"Learn while having fun" - By Daniel R Wessels
A neat, concise summary of the typical behavioral mistakes that investors often make. The book is easy to read, packed with practical examples and above all, entertaining. A book well worth reading and to keep in our personal libraries to constantly remind us how fallible we are when dealing with money matters.

"Nice book" - By Dimitri Shvorob
The book is overpriced for its 200+ small pages, and undercooked - see the easy-to-spot things like the clearly unnecessary model detail on p. 57, or the at-first-glance-technical discussion of DeLong et al. (1990) failing to explain the model's workings - but it is a good book, far superior to Wiley's earlier offering, Montier's low-quality, heavily padded "Behavioral investing". "Psychology" (think Kahneman and Tversky) takes up about 90 pages, and "finance" gets 130, devoting most space to empirical tests of "value" and momentum/reversal effects. The latter focus contributes to a feeling that the book gives only a partial view of the field, but, again, it's much better than the alternative.

"Very nice survey book" - By Calibration (HK)
The authors provide solid and excellent survey of the fields (behavior of retail investors, professional managers, analysts, traders and market-wide asset prices) and make the materials accessible to undergraduate and master students (I used the book in my master class) as well as interested professionals. Other books either lack breadth and depth, or only target PhD students or researchers (Shleifer, Thaler, etc).

The fields develop fast so I suggest the authors update the book in its 2nd edition.

"Fabulous Book!" - By Vincent E. Vizachero (Baltimore, MD United States)
"Inefficient Markets" is the most thoughtful original treatment of behavioral finance I have found. Unlike most other books on this topic, which either are vapidly light but original or are intellectually rewarding but disjointed compendiums of previously published articles, Shleifer has produced an interesting and intelligent synthesis of behavioral finance. He organizes his materially logically and clearly, covering the central themes of behavioral finance in as unified a manner as the subject permits. He has clearly thought hard about the subject matter, and his book reflects this. Shleifer's writing style is both lucid and academically rigorous, which makes for an enjoyable and informative book.
Shleifer begins by reviewing the theoretical and empirical foundations of the efficient market hypothesis (EMH) and introducing the principal challenges to this hypothesis. His review of the EMH is careful, objective, and ... full review

"Too academically oriented for average investor" - By Artephius (. (Fairbury, IL United States)
I was looking forward to learning about new theories in Behavioral Finance, but was a little disappointed by this book. The 21 articles each examine a discrepancy in a free market situation and develop theories for explaining the discrepancy drawing upon the behavioral finance field. I have an MBA and have been an investor for more than 20 years. There are too many statistics and academic language to be an efficient book for me. I quickly switched to finding each of the 21 questions, then skipping to the summary to find the behavioral finance theory for the discrepancy. I did enjoy the credit card high interest rate explanation and consider this explanation alone worth the price of the book. I also enjoyed the closed end fund discount price explanation also very useful. Book is ok, but 90% of the material can be skipped unless you are a ... full review

    "Excellent Book" - By Ailad
This book is very informative and easy to read. It is written in a way that won't bore you at all. I have tried to read several books about behavioral finance but I found out they're either too long or boring which made me lose interest in the first chapter. Though, with this book, it didn't happen as it is well-written and very interesting. The examples, given to illustrate the points were quite interesting and simple to understand. I very much enjoyed reading about behavioral finance and the biases that managers, investors and financial analysts have when making their decisions. The book is divided into 11 chapters. I highly recommend this books for people who want to know more about behavioral finance.

"Excellent read" - By Anthony J. Selkridge (RIVERDALE, GA, US)
It is interesting to have the professionals tell you that something as simple as a bad childhood experience could impact your investment choices. Moreover, these biases are so deeply rooted in our subconscious that we tend to act out these biases on a daily basis.

Bottom line, recognize your biases and avoid them (do your best) and you will make better investment/ financial decision(s).

"Required Reading for Wealth Advisors" - By Clark Brown (Athens, GA)
So much of the content around Behavioral Finance and Neuro Economics is simply new information. Albeit valuable information it often leaves both the practitioner and the individual investor left without an answer to the question, "so what do i do?" Pompian combines his research and insights into our fundamental cognitive and emotional biases together with research and insights into fundamental personality types. By doing this he has created easy to use archetypes and provides concrete, practical action steps for advisors and individual investors to use in order to avoid making big mistakes.

The genuine value in this work is that Pompian provides a framework for how to treat biases in the asset allocation decision. Pompian's work truly aligns the higher purpose of the financial advice business. For the practitioner, the application of this work is really about improving the quality of the advice. ... full review

"Extensive and intensive review of all aspects of behavioral finance..." - By Gary Antonacci (Vancouver)
Understanding investor behavior is essential for long term success in the financial markets. This is why 5 out of the 16 books on the Recommended Reading list of my own book deal exclusively with behavioral finance issues. This book is certainly one of them.

In fact, if I had to choose one single book to have on behavioral finance, it would be this one. Those unfamiliar with the field may want to first read an introductory book, such as Thinking Fast and Slow by Kahneman or Predictably Irrational by Ariely. After that, this is the book you should keep around. The depth and breadth within these 640 pages is impressive.

What I liked best is that the authors include abundant scholarly material while also covering a wide range of ideas that should be useful to practitioners. While the book can be used by students, academics, and investors, the ... full review

"Great resource on behavioral economics" - By Marian Hanganu (Ploiesti, Romania)
I bought this book because I was a dummy on behavioral economics. The book offers an overview on this new branch of economics. By the end of the book you are no longer "dummy". You understand behavioral economics and you can pick your next lectures wisely.
