"so many memories" - By Rufus T. Codbone (New Milford, CT)
Though not Boston Brahmin, I grew up in a family that referred to themselves as "swamp Yankees". Different circumstances, same basic mindset. The main difference perhaps is that we had no money or social standing. We are just old New Englanders. Our roots go way back to the earliest settlers of the region. The story of the big house brings back so many memories of my family summers on The Cape. The extended family, the traditions, the smells and sounds. And that change of mood that hits going over the bridge, onto the cape. Although the book is about the Colts on Buzzards Bay, I can relate many of the stories to the Mains on Aunt Debbie's Lane in Dennisport. I really enjoyed reading about the history, the legacy and the traditions of the big house. They brought back so many memories of ... full review

"This story did an excellent job setting up the places and characters" - By Connie Swigart-Harris
This story did an excellent job setting up the places and characters, making is easy so the reader could comfortably fit their imagination right in. It was as if one was enfolded lovingly in another place and time. I found myself very much drawn into the story, I did not want to stop reading it. Minnie's as a young girl in a trying family situation, and then later having to make her own way through life were interesting and moving. There were some loose ends that would be great to see in an additional story. I am also hoping to read more about Minnie's adventures as she matures and finds her place in the world.

"Kindle Version is Great!" - By Laurie (AURORA, CO, United States)
I'm so excited and thrilled that the Laura Ingalls Wilder series has at last come out in Kindle version for the US audience. It has been a long time coming. These are wonderful books and should be readily available to children of today - as they are now. I bought my copies of all nine books as soon as I saw they were offered. I did NOT expect the gorgeous Garth Williams illustrations to be part of the e-books, so it was an added pleasure to see them illuminated in the lighted screen and easy to enlarge. Each picture is a little jewel and far more spectacular in the Kindle version than on the printed page. Just a huge THANK YOU to whomever is responsible for releasing the books in the Kindle version!

"The Big Woods of Laura Ingalls is For Every Child" - By Kindle Customer
I love this book and sent it to my two great nieces, ages 3 and 6. Now the oldest child can read it to the youngest. The reading level is second to third grade, so the children can read it over again by themselves. I also sent them the new set of Lincoln Logs - Cabin and Barn with animals. They are enjoying Winter Days in Oregon.

"A perfect introduction to Little House books." - By thehann
I bought this as a gift because we have the Winter in the Big Woods. This is a perfect introduction into the world of Laura and her family. My kids love having these read to them and now are asking (and enjoying) having the full books read to them. Wonderful series!

"Love It" - By clh (Orange Park, FL USA)
I loved book 2. I read it one day. I couldn't put it down. I love books about the South, family history and most of all a book that paints the picture. This book was wonderful.

I will anxiously await book 3.

"Bigger Than A Tiny Home" - By Chadwick Horn (San Francisco, CA)
Everyone who dreams of living in a tiny home loves the idea of it, but has a hard time imaging how it would be in reality. The Not So Big House book is a realistic (for most of us) guide and photo journey of what it's like to live smaller. Definitely worth the read, even if you're just in the daydream phase of planning on your downsize.

    "Exactly Right" - By karin
This was a Christmas gift and I was very pleased, as was the recipient. The slipcover is lovely and the books are a pleasure to hold in the hands - nice shape, not too heavy. I could not find this information anywhere online, but these books ARE printed in the United States of America. I would expect nothing less from a nonprofit that calls itself "The Library of America" and claims to be preserving American Literature, but you never know these days. I would have returned them if they had arrived otherwise!

"" We all got a good laugh out of that one" - By Bethany H. Fagundes (Paso Robles, California)
After giving these to our 9 year old granddaughter for Christmas I heard her ask her uncle what they were and he explained how paper dolls work and that they were an "old school" toy. She then exclaimed to her dad "Look Dad, Grandma got me OLD SCHOOL!!" We all got a good laugh out of that one. That's Grandma, she is old school all the way!!

"She loves it and loves me for buying it!" - By no_real_name (Dumfries, VA)
I bought this for my wife because it was her FAVORITE book and series as a child. Somewhere through the years, her books were misplaced :( While she was telling me this while lying in bed one night, I was actually ordering it on my Iphone! and she had no clue. Imagine the hugs and kisses and tears when it was delivered...the next day. It arrived in pristine condition and she LOVED it!!!

"Very practical guide to combining form with function" - By Dan Sherman (Alexandria, VA USA)
This book builds nicely upon the author's earlier book which showed how very comfortable, very personal houses could be built that did not have a lot of unused and uncomfortable space. No McMansions with cathederal ceilings and formal dining rooms that never get used! This book focuses on how to install specific features in a home, that can make it more useable without having to build an entire new home (though in building/renovating a home, there are a lot of good ideas here). This is a very pretty book, with lots of illustrations of how houses can be built, renovated, and decorated to make the best use of space while still being very appealing to the eye. It is more practical than the first book (which really focused on builiding a whole new home) and can help you think about new ways of setting up a ... full review

"Gorgeous! Here in English at last!" - By Sally Emley
I have this book in French. I don't speak French. The book was worth it even though I had to struggle through it using an online translator. Now I will finally have it in English and I can't wait to try some new projects. Lea Frisoni is a genius in the miniature world. She is the "go-to" person for ideas on how to create unique and artistic miniature items and rooms using inexpensive materials (well, relatively inexpensive). Her book is a source of endless inspiration!

"Priceless storytelling of the Mississippi Delta, and the Magical wonders of Master Storyteller J. Keck" - By penblade1
    J. Keck is a master storyteller, his three books are wonderful to read, and the third leaves you wanting more. He masterfully explores and allows the reader to get a sense of the Mississippi Delta, and the life there, with the people and the ones who built their homes, and kept them safe. He interweaves many cool beginnings, like the start of the stock market, the amazing information of the Free Blacks, being the law and making sure those who tried to steal from you are brought to justice, business ventures, which could have led to murder. and much more.
I enjoyed all three books immensely, and one of the characters, is a main part of Minnie's live is taken from her, leaving her in deep sorrow. These are great books, and I hope the author continues with a fourth book, showing how the family does in new regions of ... full review

"Powerful debunker of Maine myth!" - By J. R. Braugh (Portland, OR)
If you have ever wandered around Maine, you will have noticed a unique form of farm architecture. But ask most people why 19th century Maine farmers made such a concerted effort to physically connect the structures on their farms and the answer is "they needed a way to get to the barn through the winter snow." Trust me, I have gone around and asked current dwellers of Maine farmsteads. Thomas Hubka carefully points out that if that were so, we'd see similar connected farm architecture in parts of the nation where winters were even more inclimate and snowier. Yet Maine farm architecture remains almost totally enigmatic. Hubka's diligent field work reveals that forces were at work in mid-19th century Maine that conspired against the rural farmer: industrial competition for hand-manufactured goods produced at home for cash suppliment, a labor drain to other more prosperous farming ... full review
