One of the most frustrating things for me as a parent is that pretty much every child's game or toy (that we have, anyway) requires parent involvement in some way, because there is some aspect of it that is too advanced for the children. This defeats the whole purpose of having children "go and play" so a parent can get some grown-up things done. (don't get me wrong--some toys are meant for learning and so parent involvement is appropriate; but I will also be honest and admit that there are also plenty of times when I need to do a grown-up things and want my children to be occupied with their play).
My 5-year old and 8-year old play this game together and it is terrific. The game does not require any reading nor any other parent involvement, so it is a truly independent game for them to play. ... full review(729) -

Advertised as drinking game, but nothing indicates it on the box or in the directions. It may not be difficult to figure out how to use it as a drinking game, but I ordered it as a gift for a 21st birthday and it defeats the purpose if I have to explain why. I bought this for my 5th grade classroom. My kids go crazy over this and the "Brick by Brick" game as well. This 3-dimensional puzzle was very challenging for my husband and myself. I took it to school and my students find this game particularly frustrating. I would recommend this game to a teacher with an older classroom. The game says ages 8+ but I think it should be more appropriately labeled 12+ because of the difficulty.(94) -

Not an original idea. Reminds me of Mind games I sold many years ago for my educational toy business in the 1980's. Versatile learning in a fun way, though.

The CoolToys Timber Tower is a new twist on the old Jenga game that I grew up with. I decided to get my daughter this set because it adds a few new elements to the game.
To play the game, there are 48 wooden blocks that are stacked up in an alternating pattern and then removed one at a time until the tower falls over. We're really big on STEM toys in our household, so the numbers on the ends of the blocks are a welcome addition. The numbers are large and easy to read. Also included are three dice, which adds to the fun. It allows you to play the game in different ways; you can stack them by number, stack them randomly and then try to remove them in order, call out random numbers for someone else to try to remove, roll the dice and remove the ... full review(110) -

This is the first game I have purchased from Peaceable Kingdom. I am quite impressed with the simplicity, challenge and fun of the game. Our 3 1/2 to 4 year old preschoolers love this game. That's about 40 kids, so I may need to get more of these.(80) -

Not too many rules, just plain fun. Stack the blocks until they tumble down. Fun for most ages! The blocks are even fun to use by themselves when the kids play with cars or other toys. Just be sure to get them back in the box for another day--the bright colors and smooth wood makes them easy to identify. Even preschoolers find these blocks easy to handle.
