Shogun is a great game. It feels both like a classic, something not far removed from the Risk you grew up with, but at the same time fresh and exciting. At the most basic, Shogun is a game of territory control, you are combating other players (and sometimes peasants) for control of land to score the buildings within them each round. What makes Shogun fresh is that all actions are planned simultaneously, this means all players are sitting there agonizing at once over which province might be attacked and they should reinforce from, where will they want to attack? Do they need to get more armies there first? Will the round play out in their favor? Can't forget about getting rice to feed your people so they don't revolt. Then you execute each person's move at the same time and see how it pans out. ... full review(6) -

My family and friends spend a lot of time playing games so we are always looking for a new one. We absolutely LOVE this game. This game has brought hours of hysterical laughter. Now when playing this game you may want to set some boundaries if playing with children. The questions are clean however as adults we can take this game to a whole new level!! There are no right or wrong answers. The objective is to be the "last one standing". A question is asked, everyone writes down a response and the reader of the question tries to guess who wrote what. When we play we always try and skew the guessing a bit with out answers. I can not recommend this game enough.(228) -

Super fun game!
This is best played with 3 or more people. We've played with as many as 9 people and it was so much fun!
This game has cards that are current and relevant to today's news, memes, fads, sayings and fashion.
Every player gets a turn: you take a green card with 2 words on it. You choose which word you want and the others choose from their hand of red cards which one matches your word the best. Whoever put the winning red card in, takes the green card as a win.
It is a fun way to find out just how twisted and fun your family and friends are!
Although this game is called 'Apples to Apples', it is definitely not 'Hi Ho Cherry-O'
This had everyone in stitches and after 2 complete rounds (the winner is the one who has 4 green cards)

I really like Lancaster. And I like the big box better. But be careful! Amazon sent out the regular box in December 2016 with a sticker over the UPC that said "Lancaster Big Box Strategy Board Game". I think someone put the wrong sticker on, but I thought you should be aware. If you bought the game at the end of 2016 from Amazon, make sure you got the right thing! :) (if it says Big Box on the front of the box, you got the right thing)
In general Lancaster is a great game. There are a lot of rules, but once you learn them it's easy enough to teach others in a play-through. It's a middle-weight worker-placement with area control. The game is wonderful! It's frantic and funny. One thing that did bother me was that there was no instruction manual on how to play. I had to go online (and we're on holiday with a bad internet connection, which is pretty frustrating) I didn't want to let that reflect on my rating of the game. I can really recommend it for a quick and easy game.(16) -

LOVE how satisfying this game is to put away. I opened it just so I could put it away. Everything has a spot, the spots are labeled and things don't fly all over the box even when it's tipped over.
As for game play, it's super quick and easy to learn, and there are usually several different strategies to play for every different game they outline.(17) -

One of the best board game out there, contrary to others, I still "liked" the Alhambra, vanilla (or basic) box, but I wanted more, after viewing a awesome review on Youtube, I bought this "Alhambra: Big Box", and even if I already had high expectations, it went above and beyond them. Unlimited game play, and with all 20 modules, probably around hundreds of thousands of different versions of this game. The new tiles are much better then in the vanilla box on it's own.
Actually a good deal for two players, as most of the new extensions boost the two players game experience, and would actually slow down to a crawl the 6 player game. Most of the new expansions are more enjoyable from two to four players.

Best football game I could find with a nice balance of fun/realism vs statistical overload. Strat-o-matic is fabulous but probably for the more fanatical players. Bones is over-the-top complicated. Others like 1st & Goal or NFL Game Day maybe fun but seem a little too simple/unrealistic. All the stuff with the game is a little overwhelming at first but it all works together and is quite easy to grasp. PBF website appears to be dead. Hard to find individual NFL team cards. There is the basic game with 3 plays each for offense and defense but expands to 6 plays each which makes things even more interesting. I had Paydirt years ago and this is the closest I could find to that.(17) -

My group of friends like to engage in playing board games together from time to time, at various people's homes. Our home now has a huge variety of board games. (Our video games are ridiculous but I've had 30+ years to work on that collection). Our board games are a slowly growing set. Every so often we play a game we haven't played before.
We actually discovered Shut The Box through a friend at Burning Man a couple years ago. While we waited out a dust white out in his 5th wheel, he brought out this game in a box that looked like it was a hundred years old. The rules were simple and we had a blast !! It's fun with a handful of people but my husband and I have played just the two of us a time or two.
