List Price: $149.99 Price: $145.99 You Save: $4.00 (3%) "Fantastic kit for learning about computers and programming" - By Brian P. Hogan (Eau Claire, WI, USA)
If you have kids and you want to get them interested in computers, don't pass this up. It's not really "building a computer", it's putting a Raspberry Pi 2 in a case and connecting up HDMI, speaker, and power cables. The components to do this cost about the same as the Kano so you could do this yourself.
But the Kano offers a great instruction book that keeps the kid engaged, and the software is incredible. It's a fantastic learning tool for kids, and honestly, it could work really well for adults who are curious about programming, as many of the included bits of software focus on learning to code.(251) -

After playing for years on the xbox gaming console, I decided I will try to give PC gaming a chance. Everything I read on the internet suggests that a PC build can be vastly superior to a gaming console for a few hundred dollars over the price of the console. This is mostly due to console hardware becoming obsolete relatively fast due to new technological improvements, especially for the GPU. And one can also invest a little more, ranging from a few hundreds to thousands, to build a truly powerful gaming machine that can last for years.
This book does a good job of putting a lot of information (which I found scattered thru the internet) together. It explains various computer components such as CPU, memory, power supply unit (PSU), graphics card (GPU), PC case, etc. It has an example guide on how to assemble a PC from scratch. ... full review(33) -

Price: $2.99 "Easy read, well worth the purchase price" - By Raj Arwjani
It certainly made it simple and yet provided all the tech details I didn't understand even what a processor was, but now I really understand all these parts of the computer. The Assembly section was also very helpful. Using it I was able to build my first PC (it is an office/gaming). Would very much recommend, it was well worth it.(28) -

List Price: $29.99 Price: $21.84 You Save: $8.15 (27%) "Hand-holding for the novice" - By J. B Kraft (Palestine, TX United States)
Imagine all of those beautiful, expensive parts on your work table, and a trusted friend shows up to walk you through the process of building your first computer. He's there to look over your should and help when you need. You are confident and empowered.
This is an excellent book, with very clear logic about laying out and building three different levels of computer systems. While I have been a PC user since 1981, I never tried to build one until now, and I was worried about how the big bucks I was plunking down would translate.
Now that you have all these parts, where do you start? What should your concerns be? in 28 years of PC fiddling and replacing parts, for example, I never had anybody tell me that it was okay (and useful) to use a magnetic screwdriver.
While it is, technologically speaking, a ... full review(67) -
