"Nice coat, size runs big" - by bhatt64
I am 5 ' 9" tall, 220 lb, muscular build and the large still provides plenty of room, can even comfortably wear hoodie under it, had tried xl originally, was way to big, hope that helps with fitment questions, as far as quality, seems to be very rugged and well made, is warm, I . Like it, I just realized this review was for xl, that I returned, was too big and I'm big build in upper body

"I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT" - by Jon (United States)
This jacket is real nice. One thing though, it fits real snug like. Admittingly I do have about an extra 20lbs I could stand to lose however mediums generally aren't much of an issue for me. There's not much give with this jacket so just be warned. That being said I have seen medium sized clothing both larger and smaller then how this jacket fits, so for me it is in the medium of the medium category, just FYI. The jacket is really very good looking though and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.

"Made in the USA" - by John S. F. (Columbia, SC)
////UPDATE: I've had the coat for two winters now, going in to my third, and I LOVE IT! No static charge like many quilted liners build up, the duck is holding up amazingly, all the stitching is still very solid. I wore this thing through Hurricane Irene digging a ditch to drain a field that was flooding, and after four hours of work in the rain the liner was still dry, even at the elbows. Very warm, too!\\\\

I followed the advice of some of the other reviewers and ordered a size up, which gave me a jacket that was considerably bulkier than I expected. I wear a 45T in a dress jacket, and am not a small man, but the extra large is broader across the chest than I strictly require. I'm okay with it, because it will allow me to layer heavily under the ... full review

"Best find to keep me cycling in Winter." - by Lozza on an XCal
My goto jacket that's kept me cycling through record breaking low temps in Massachusetts. Cut well so when you're moving about the jacket isn't riding up or needing adjustment. I wear a thermal long sleeve shirt underneath and that's all That's needed for temps down to 20f. Stands up to 3 hours in sub zero temps.

"Nice, understated waterproof jacket" - by Kindle Customer (Indianapolis, IN United States)
I bought this coat because I needed a 3 in 1 jacket to navigate Seattle fall and winter with its cold, damp rain. So far I’ve only worn the outer shell as a rain coat. It has kept me very dry. It fits well, seems to be very waterproof and has big zipped pockets to keep my phone and other small things dry. I like the way it looks—the black is sort of a matte finish and the coat seems well constructed. I’m hopeful that I’ll be as happy when I where it with the inner jacket liner.

"Best Bang for Your Buck Windproof Cycling Jacket" - by Dai Low
Sizing was a challenge, as with most products manufactured overseas. The return/exchange process was quick/simple and once we got the size we wanted, the product was great.
Personally, I am not well-insulated, so I tend to dress warmer than others around me... this jacket allows me to be warmer without resorting to too many extra layers and turning into the Michelin Man.

Pros:
-Materials and craftsmanship are fantastic; even moreso when you factor in the price.
-Definitely wind proof, and the internal layers work well to insulate from the heat-robbing cold air.
-Great "cycling cut" where the jacket fits my contours perfectly while hunched-over the bike - long sleeves do not ride up at all.

Cons:
-It won't collapse into a tiny pouch like some other (thinner) shells, but I consider this an engineering sacrifice for excellent heat retention and wind resistance.
-Internal "pockets" are not really pockets, more like fabric mesh "envelopes". They're plenty big, but I ... full review

"Super Winter Coat for Active Women" - by CyberTom (USA)
We live up north we’re theres lots of cold and snow. My Wife is an active woman. I bought her this coat as an everyday run to the store, take the dog out, help our elderly neighbors do everything winter coat.

One day it was raining then it started to snow and the coat repelled the water. It blocks the wind and has a nice warm lining. It’s now around 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit and it’s keeping her warm.

She told me to give it 5-Stars...She LOVES it!

"Couldn't be happier" - by Kelly
I never buy coats online but couldn't resist when I saw this coat for such a price and needed a decent one for snowboarding. I ordered size small, I am 5'3" and 120lbs and the coat fits like a dream! Excellent quality and is extremely warm. I took a chance on the red and the color is perfect and vibrant, the inside is not fleece more of s faux fur but very warm and actually softer than expected. Will probably buy another in a different color!

"Good quality, warm." - by Allicia
It does well at keeping the wind out. I've always had hoodies, but I love that this jacket has a zip up collar to keep my neck warm.

Fits well on me, 5'8 145 lbs. I bought a medium- I'm a size 6-8 generally.

I wish the sleeves were a little longer. The sleeves also cinch at the end with an elastic band. They keep the cold out and my sleeves from falling down, but also get stuck on my watch all the time.

I wasn't sure about the zipper pockets, but honestly I like them. In my other zip sweaters I always had my keys or phone falling out of my pockets. The zippers are a plus rather than a negative. You can put your arms in without getting scratched up from the zipper.

I wear it to work every day and I haven't had any problems with zippers getting stuck.

"Less expensive than North Face's Apex Bionic, works just as well but with a better fit/style" - by Lord Otter (USA)
The Ascender is similar to North Face's Apex Bionic soft shell, but the fit is slimmer and cleaner. The sleeves are a tad short (seems to be a trend with Columbia) but everything else fits true. The interior is fleece lined, while the outer shell is a typical softshell material - wind resistant and slightly water resistant. During heavy rain, it tends to start wicking rain but I never feel it from the inside. I don't recommend wearing just a soft shell below 50F, and instead layer up with a fleece or liner like Columbia's Mighty Lite.

Overall: 5/5 stars

"Great jacket" - by Sabrina
5’6” 120lbs. I have long arms. My husband originally bought me an xs & the sleeves were too short. This time, I bought a medium because I wanted room for a hoodie underneath. So it’s pretty roomy, but just what I was looking for. I bought the Hudson blue & it’s darker than pictured, more of a faded navy. But carhartt is the best, so I don’t mind.

"Stiff Marshmallow => Awesome Coat" - by Ducky Boy
I needed a new winter coat and I like Carhartt in the past but never tried their polyester stuff-always cotton. But I liked the water resistance living in New England where snow can flip to rain no problem. Got the coat, pretty excited, pulled it out of the bag and the freaking thing is like PLYWOOD. My wife is cracking up - I'm 6'4" so I got the large tall- always works Carhartt or Dickies. But the coat was poofy Im telling you - like a XXL AND the hood was so stiff it wouldn't lay down! So my wife is calling me the michelin man and I am looking at return policies but then it hit me: just got to break it in.

SO! If you get this coat throw that mug in the washer and fill it with warm water. Put in a cup of vinegar. Let it soak ... full review

"Look no further" - by Chase Trent (ABILENE, TEXAS, United States)
This jacket is amazing. After seeing 1 review for this, and in desperate need of a real jacket to keep me warm and dry, I hit the jackpot. Its a tiny bit big on me, but still very wearable. Its super warm and comfortable. plus this bad boy comes with 10 pockets. This was worth more than the list price. I honestly can't recommend a jacket more than this one.

"Amazing jacket! Runs large" - by Tanessa Sestito (Olympia)
This jacket is AMAZING! I was super hesitant on sizing because here were so many reviews stating it was too big. I'm VERY happy I went with a size smaller than I'd normally get. I'm not a large girl, but I do have a large chest! 34 G—so, I usually have to get mediums or larges in shirts. I am 5'4" about 150 lbs with an athletic build. I would say that regardless of how you like to fit your jackets, a size smaller is what you should go for. I can zip it up with ease and still fit a sweatshirt under it!
