"Transform your organization!" - By Elise Foster (Columbus, IN)
You’ve heard of the learning organization, and might even work in an organization that leans in that direction. In An Everyone Culture, Kegan and Lahey push the limits of the learning organization and offer the “deliberately developmental organization” as the new standard to tackle the increasing complexity we face today, as employees and individuals.

They help us to see that in addition to our day jobs, every employee is doing a second job (covering their weaknesses and trying to look good); one that is seriously impacting our ability to get things done! Building on more than 30 years of research and by profiling three successful organizations, they offer concrete practices, backed by the science, that create transformational change and business success.

If you are sick of accepting the current organizational norms – covering up weaknesses, positional posturing, and the like – then this is the book for you. ... full review

"Ideas for Building Leaders Inside Your Organization" - By Robert Wickman (Austin, TX United States)
If you are starting a change project or you are in the middle of one and need some good tips on how to get the train back on the tracks, skip this one. Pick it back up when you have the time to lay new tracks. Building an organization and developing leaders this way will take time. However, if you are looking to grow as a leader or to grow new leaders, this may be a great read for you.

The author, Michael Fullan, whose expertise is in educational reform, suggests that his book is equally applicable to the for-profit business and non-profit environment. There are no winning formulas to achieving success with your change project. Actually, Dr. Fullan declares that there are no effective do-this-then-that roadmaps for managing change.

Many authors have five step, eight-step, xx-step processes for change and he lists ... full review

"Great culture shaping outline!" - By Rpataca
Great book! A real eye opener. Great outline of helping an organization be intentional about shaping it's culture. WELL WORTH THE READ! I'm fortunate enough to be apart of an organization that tries really hard to live with purpose and values - this book is a great asset and tool to help us do just that. I think society is on the cusp of a new era - one in which people are looking for more than just a paycheck and something to occupy 40 hours of their week - but looking for purpose and meaning in what they do. This book will help your organization get there!

"Steadfast Cherokee Women Successfully Fight Off White Civilization" - By Truden
Extremely interesting. I really thought this was going to be some Feminist agenda type propaganda but actually the Cherokees went much farther than today's feminists. Their women effectively "wore the pants" in their civilization. Sure the men hunted and held the councils, but the women controlled the food supply and the children, so they were dominant. A good read. Also enjoyed learning about Cherokee civilization in general and Uktenas!

"Much to admire" - By J. Scott Shipman (Annandale, VA)
The first six chapters of this book are remarkably insightful. The authors offer innovative examples just how our digital world is altering the means and methods of effective education. The last three chapters left me with more questions than answers (and perhaps that was part of the goal, since questioning and reframing are extolled). Our world is changing to be sure, but "to what" isn't developed beyond models inadequate to the question---the gaming example seems more symptom/by-product than predictive for it is almost entirely context based. Gaming is an excellent example of self-organized communities gathering to meet a challenge for entertainment, but in reality it is also a consequence free environment.

This volume is highly recommended to anyone curious about the impact of technology on our children and our culture.

"Good Discussion Guide" - By Library Lady 65
Leading in a Culture of Change: Personal Action Guide and Workbook by Michael Fullan is a useful tool to use with your organization’s current or potential leaders. Although this is also offered as a book without the included action guide and workbook, I recommend this edition. The personal action guide and workbook segments at the end of each chapter question the reader and ask for reflection on the information. This is a useful tool to move beyond a shallow read of the book’s material.

Fullan’s book focuses on change in the business world, but the concepts are easily transferable to the realm of education or other organizations which are facing change. His analysis of the components of effective leaders and their impact on organizational change will be useful to guide organizations and individuals through the change process. Each chapter includes “Key Points” which are a quick and easy way ... full review

"I highly recommend reading this book!" - By Jane
If you are a professional or a student interested in expanding your knowledge of leadership and culture change, I highly recommend reading this book. I enjoyed learning through the real-world company examples and found the book to be an easy read. Each section has a unique lesson that can be applied to many business settings. The authors have a deep understanding of the work that is required to change deeply embedded habits and assumptions on a global scale. Best part: The stories include real culture data and graphs!
